In real pain since last night. :'(

Hi everyone. hope you have all enjoyed your weekend.

Wish you all a wonderful wee ahead! :)

I was having a good weekend until last night. I had to go out to collect my daughter after she was returning back from an event and I decided to walk and as I was walking pretty fast, I sort of pulled a muscle or something in my stomach and been in pain since then.

It feels like something is stabbing me badly towards the right side of the belly button and nothing is helping. I've tried resting, tried to gently massage as well as took some pain killers. but nothing has worked since. Tried to take advantage of booking a so called "24 hr appointment booking" service but was not successful. will try and book it tomorrow to get myself checked out as the pain is pretty unbearable. :( :'(

If it came on suddenly and is that bad it sounds like it could be your appendix. get to doctor or A&E quickly,it could be ruptured. Hope you get sorted.

Thank you suzymac but I have already had my appendix removed few years back. This feels like something else, but not sure exactly what!😣😣

Hi Sana, I hope the pain is getting better. Pulled muscles can be incredibly painful, but if it doesn't settle I would definitely get it checked out by your GP or call 111. There are many other things that could cause abdo pain, ovarian cysts, gastroenteritis, bowel spasm, appendicitis. The appendix does not usually cause sudden pain, it usually grumbles for a while. Check out this link for more details.

Get well soon.

Thanks vanessa93 for your advice. I have already had hysterectomy due to ovarian cysts 4 years ago. And apendix has also been removed few years back..

I will have a look at the link as well and if the pain does not get better soon then I will have to go to A&E as the GPs are not giving me an appointment as yet. 😣

At least you have ruled out some possibilities! You have also given me another idea; it could be that you have pulled some scar tissue. Every time we have surgery, there is always some scarring internally, the body heals itself and in the process, (in layman's terms) can stick bits together. These are called adhesions, not normally a problem but can be painful if pulled or pulling on another organ, the bowel for example. I have adhesions from appendectomy and other gynae surgery and sometimes it can be really painful, like something has snapped followed by constant soreness for a while, especially if I twist or sneeze.

If the pain is unbearable I would go to A&E as this would be an emergency otherwise, your GP would be the best person. Have you taken any analgesia i.e. paracetamol? and did this help? Turning up at A&E or GP complaining of pain and then admitting you have not taken anything will just make them think it can't be that bad. Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a lecture, its the surgical nurse in me. An A&E visit may be a very long but if you GP thinks it necessary he can refer you which will be a lot quicker. Hope you get sorted. V.

If you are doubled over in pain, then you need a diagnosis sooner. Instead of waiting to make an appointment, if your GP service cannot take you as an emergency, (do try asking them), then take yourself to A & E. This sounds like both an accident and an emergency.

Thanks Venusflytrap , I tried speaking to the doctors at the surgery but they refused to take me in as emergency. If not any better by the evening then I will go to A&E.

I recently phoned nhs 111 in this kind of scenario they were able to help and prioritise me to be seen by a gp within 2 hours

Definitely do it as they are joined up to all the services so they can refer you to a walk in centre or a&e and they'll even send an ambulance if they think you need it
