Last year at the age of 46 I had to have a total hysterectomy. Afterwards I felt great and lost weight😀 Since then I was told to go on hrt even though I didn't want to and now I'm 2 stone overweight even though I exercise and watch my food intake. I can't seem to lose the weight. I asked for help at the doctors but they gave no help.

Struggling to lose weight!
Did you see your GP or the health management nurse? It can make a big difference, the nurse is usually better placed to get the help needed. Some areas of the country are signed up to slimming world referrals ( this gives 12 weeks slimming world and 12 weeks fitness training, both can be extended at the referrers discretion. ). This may be something you could do? I had a sub-total hysterectomy 3 years ago ( for ovarian cancer) aged 45, no hrt for me though due to complications creating pulmonary embolisms. The medication I have to take daily for life has a detrimental effect on weight, but I am managing to lose it albeit slowly. Have faith hun, you will need grit and determination and lots of faith when things stall, but you can get the weight off even on hrt. 😊
Hi Newme-47,
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get any helpful support at your doctors when you discussed your wish to lose weight. Like Hidden says, maybe consult with a Health Management Nurse for some extra support.
Within the forum, I would suggest having a look at our Welcome Newbie post, which moreless has put together, as it has lots of really motivating posts from members in the forum, and can be helpful. Many of us follow the NHS 12 week plan, and I would recommend it as a helpful structure - and the NHS Choices website is full of great resources, so definitely worth a look around.
We have a Monday group weigh-in, which I post on Monday morning and then a second session at midday - and you can see the latest thread in the Events section (look at the right-hand-side of the homepage and you'll see that, plus the Pinned Posts above it are also worth a read).
I hope you'll find lots of support and motivation here in the forum, and I'd like to wish you success with your weight loss goals.
