Hey everyone! Good evening to you all and I hope you all are looking forward to the weekend, which is just one more day away!. (I know I really am).

Since I joined this forum, it feels that you have all become my family and I wanted to share something with you all which I did today.

I had to go with my husband somewhere today and on the way back he had to urgently go somewhere, which meant that he had to drop me off pretty far away from home. It was aboit half an hour's walk to my house, I decided to challenge myself and get home in 15-20 mins. Without thinking about or caring about what people might be thinking about me while watching me run on the pavement by the main road, I started running (feels like i have butterflies in mu tummy now that I'm thinking about it). But hey everyone guess what! I made it home in 19 mins and 39 seconds! πŸ˜…πŸ˜… was totally out of breath and sweaty too. But I must say I haven't had this feeling in years! I think I should get dumped more often and further away from the house!... πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚.

Thanks for reading this everyone as it feels great now that I have shared this with you all. β˜ΊπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜„

Wow well done you ..... I couldn't run a bath. Maybe you could make it's regular thing. Run 20 mins couple of times a week and building up by a minute a go.

Thank you so much for your kind words dd1439 . That is the plan for now and the best thing is that there comes a park in the way through which I am planning to take two rounds as well. It takes me 11 minutes to complete one round in that park and this will also help towards that fat loss as well. 😊

Firstly well done! Thats amazing, and a great start. Have a look for parkruns and see if there is one near you. They are 5k events held every saturday and run by volunteers free to enter. You run at your own pace and it doesnt matter how slow you are and if you have to walk for bits, the one i went to a couple of weeks ago had a 75yr old doing her first one. Everyone is really friendly.

Oh my I feel out of breath just reading your post. I can handle fast walking and doing one of Davina's DVD's but never seem to be able to run. Well done for making it home in less than 20 mins. If you enjoyed it maybe you should do it more often. Thanks for sharing your story :)

Thank you for reading my story muffintop67 as it means a lot to me. 😚

I would like to continue it and as a partner i think I will bribe my 12 year old to join me as well since he really enjoys outdoor activities.

Will be good to have a running partner for you too. I wish my 14 year old was more into outdoor activities - don't think you can run while you are playing on a Playstation. I definitely find my weight loss is better the more I exercise but I am not great at planning lots of exercise time each week as something else always needs doing and the exercise has to wait :( Hope you manage to get lots of running in :) (Sorry - Just edited this post as feel a bit guilty as although my son does not like outdoor activities very much he is in fact off on his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh walk today so he def won't be on his playstation for next 48 hours! ;) )

Wouldn't you think some of the genius nerds would invent a portable play station? :-)

Cool, that's good going. Have you looked at the NHS couch to 5k programme, you're already on week 5 ;-)

It's great, I'm loving it and never thought I could run. There is a group on here for it too and it's really friendly.

Hi Son1 and thank you for your positive words. I am already doing c25k and really enjoy it. Outdoor running however, has made me feel a lot more positive and better. which group is it? Can you please either tag me in that or show me it please.

Thanks.

Hi,

If you look at the search bar on the top right of this page (where it says Search Weight Loss NHS) and type in 'Couch to 5k' you can then join the group :-)

I didn't know that, LOL! Do you mean there is a group within our Weight Loss NHS group or do you mean the separate Couch to 5K forum?

It's a separate forum - I thought you were on there?

Now I'm confused (it doesn't take much in fairness.....)

Heh-heh, sorry to spread my confusion, of course, I am on there!

That's amazing. I love setting myself personal challenges. Things that used to annoy me just feel like satisfying challenges now. Most of the time anyway...

That is great to hear Hidden , I know what you mean by setting up challenges. I also believe that the brain starts working faster in order to achieve something especially when it has to compete with a challenge or a task. Many thanks for reading my story. 😊

Hi Zest ,

It is okay and I completely understand. Have a lovely sleep and night.

Sweet dreams.

Good night.

😊☺😍

That's a fantastic story to share and I wish I was brave enough to run outside but that is my aim in the long term. You are inspirational!

Hi again Sana,

What a lovely story to read - I think it was great that you did that, and especially that you're feeling really motivated by it too - I agree with you that running outside is special - I've only recently started to have an occasional outdoor run again, and I must say it is lovely.

It's great that you're thinking of encouraging your 12 year old to join you - I bet that would be something you'd both enjoy. I know that you're doing C25K, and I know that Son1 has told you how to get to the C25K forum, but incase you had any difficulty, here is a direct link:

I'm also very excited about the weekend being nearly here - hope you have a lovely one!!!

Wow, that is amazing, Sana! It has taken me WEEKS to be able to run, so that is fabulous. Are you going to start C25K now and do a fun run or something?
