Started yesterday!

Just wanted to say "hello" as I am in the first couple of days of trying to lose weight. My weight has crept up and up over the last couple of years and my BMI is currently 36.6 :( I have a holiday in 11 weeks time (so not quite enough time to finish the 12 week plan!) but my main motivation is to try and live a healthier life. I really struggle with food consumption, especially in the evening, I almost feel like it's an addiction. Does anyone else feel like this?

Hi Christie1412,

Hello!  Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum.  It's great that you've posted to say 'hello'.  I know your holiday is in 11 weeks time, but definitely worth starting the NHS 12 week plan to enable you to do most of it before you go for your holidays.

Please also check out the Pinned Post area as there are several more challenges going on.  I recommend each and every one of them, as they are really good - Hidden  's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Challenge is really motivating, they all are.  So join in with anything that you like the look of, and hope to see you around and about in the forum.

Hi, my story is very similar with the evening eating I would binge when bored or relaxed out of habit, (my bmi is higher eek) but I got so much great advice here. I'm just starting week 6 and today I am 1 stone 6.5 lbs lighter and already my diet habits have changed and I no longer eat in the evening. Someone put on here their mantra that I kept it said breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper, that way you have longer to work off the bigger calories. It seems to work well with me so far.

I might try that! At the moment I tend to eat the least cals at breakfast, a medium meal at lunch and then a huge dinner. I always just feel so hungry in the evening and I also have a terrible terrible wine habit which adds to calorie consumption!

I eat more, earlier in the day, I find it really helps my mid afternoon sugar cravings 😊

I went on holiday in my second week but managed to maintain my first week's loss by making healthy choices where I could. I think you can still enjoy yourself without ruining all your hard work if you include a few treats and remember life is to be lived as well as dieting!
