Last night I had 40g (dry weight) of wholegrain rice cooked in a saucepan with one desserts spoon of miso paste and one large mushroom. On the top I steamed 2 frozen cod steaks and a huge handful of cauliflower leaves. Added a dessert spoon of olive oil and 5g of butter (kept frozen in cubes) to the rice at the last minute. quick, delicious, fragrant, looked amazing.

If you're getting bored with the NHS recipes, I would suggest you have a look at the BBC food site.  There is a whole section of low cal recipes there.  Jamie Oliver's website is another good one as he always gives the nutritional information on his.  You can find both of these by googling.  If you have a particular ingredient that you want to use, just putting the ingredient's name and adding low cal gets lists of new recipes too.

I have a slow cooker, and love preparing big batches of 10 bean chilli, goulash, sausage casserole and pulled pork (serve this with 1 wrap and dry fried peppers, mushrooms and onions). I made a really nice potato and mushroom stroganoff last week, at around 400 calories a for a big portion with steamed veg. I like potato gratin made with creme fraiche and bacon (also around 400 cals a portion).  Grilled Cajun chicken and veg is also really nice and really easy to make.

I just got a BBC goodfood low calorie recipe book which is fab. I made a tomato and spinach curry with white fish served with 100g rice which came to 480kcal but the curry would also be lovely with steamed green veg for about 300kcal.

Chicken and roast veg traybake and stir fry's are good back up, quick dishes.
