I am trying to drink more water and cut down on caffeine.  If you do it let us know how you got on

Will do...I think I might give this a go. I would to infuse fruit in the water though or I would get bored :)

Really wish I could manage 30 days.  I do enjoy water but unfortunately I  like tea and wine as well !

My daughter often drinks just water for a week and her complexion is wonderful. She's nearly 30 and gets asked for age I.D  all the time!!

(Unfortunately I now have a senior bus pass but no bus driver has rejected me for looking too young 😢)

I usually drink water and herbal tea.  I can see drinking water has benefits, but not sure I'm willing to give up  a hot drink to warm me up!  I really feel the cold so need something to combat the a/c in the office.  It seems to be blowing cold air no matter the time of year!

Perhaps a good idea to do some more research?  It is possible to drink too much water.

Is it??? My only concern is water retention....that would make me bloat I think? I will look into it further

It is possible to drink too much water, but you'd really have to push yourself. We're talking 4+ litres a day, every day for someone not physically active. Also drinking a few litres in a short period of time is very bad for you. If you're just talking 2-3L a day, you'd have no problems.

Just drinking water is actually not that bad. If you drink a lot of tea/coffee, you will feel pretty rubbish for the first few days, and you probably will miss them long term. I don't drink tea/coffee, and I've easily gone 30 days on nothing but water (unless you count soup!) and not missed it.

One of my uncles over-hydrated once.  He was running a race in a very humid area and thought he would be losing more water than he actually had.  I believe it was that he'd drunk too much, too fast.  He said he was quite sick, but I don't remember how long.  He told me the story quite a few years ago!

Yeah, it's about how much you drink within a certain period. It floods the liver/kidneys (I forget which), and flushes out all the salts, and it can be fatal. Salt is really important in our diets, and it sweats out too, which will have made it worse for him too! We're talking 2-3L  in less than an hour though. if you're drinking a normal amount (2L over a full day), there is nothing to worry about.

Bloating can be caused by foods, but lots of water will just make you use the toilet a lot. Best not to drink too much in the evening!

Cutting out fizzy drinks etc is always a good idea. How much water you need is down to the individual. The colour of urine is a good guide: pale straw shows that you are hydrated enough.

I don't drink as much as 2 litres a day. Foods  also contain water which count towards keeping you hydrated.
