Hi Chocbee,

Weight loss starts in the kitchen so make sure you are following a safe and healthy eating plan that is designed for you to lose weight at a rate of 1-2lbs a week.

Are you keeping a food diary and have you calculated what your daily calorie allowance is?

Have you cut out sugar and processed foods and also watch out for alcohol too this is very high in calories and can easily de-rail any diet.

Hi Chocbee34.  John has given you some good pointers

I would emphasise the benefits of checking out your personal calorie use and aiming to consume 500 a day less than that

Hi Chocbee,  just wanted to say hi and good luck.  I am sure that you will find your rhythm soon.  There is lots of support and tips on the forum.  I am finding using the myfitnesspal ap helps me to keep track of calories.  Also, try to pre-empt the times when you know that you will get hungry and fill up on healthy snacks to stop cravings.  You can do it!! x

Thank you for the tip of filling up on healthy snacks . Will try that and keep recording my calorie intake !!

Hi chockee34

Well done to you for starting a healthy lifestyle! They say losing weight is 70% food 30% exercise. I see you are going jogging/ running good for you girl. You will so much better about yrself! Bear in mind that when you first start exercising your body  may hold on to fluid so if don't lose as much on the scales as you thought you should don't give up!!! Your body will adjust. Also if you carry on exercising you will tone up. Itso a great feeling. Drink plenty of water to flush you out that will help with weight loss.

Hi Chocbee34,

Personally I would be lost without myfitnesspal app cal, fat, carbs count ( It is baffling) it counts my steps and includes them.

It also depends on what you eat items like rice, pasta and noodles can be high in cals so look close at different types/brands (you will be shocked that the same item but made by different firms can be so different).

Potatoes which is the best way to cook them, I was amazed that baked spud has lots of cals.

Losing weight is kitchen and exercise, but also a very strong will.

This forum has loads of advice, the people are helpful and kind, it has helped me alot.

Good luck

Wendy

Hi Wendy ,

I have switched to brown rice , sweet potato for carbs . I don't like pasta at all .

I joined British Military Fitness 3 weeks ago and have been doing 2 to 3 sessions per week . I do my short runs midweek and 10km on Sundays . I participate in the Cancer research campaigns so this year I am running 10k in July .

I have and still am trying my best to eat clean .

Thank you for the tips . The support here is amazing . Will try n update on my weight loss journey .

98kg now ..... Will see in 2 weeks time if the lard has shifted 😉

With all your exercise, it might be worth increasing your protein portions.  It is often the secret of feeling fuller for longer.  The other thing to beware of is drinks.  A lot of what we think is "healthy" like fruit juices and smoothies often contain a lot of sugar.  And I don't mean added sugar, I mean the sugar that is in the fruit and veg naturally.  But it still behaves like the white stuff, if it is made into drinks.  It is also worth having a really good look at the labels even of flavoured water.  Because some of these have loads of sugar and kcal too.  Good luck with all that exercise and your next weigh in.

I drink juice probably once a week . A glass or two of coconut water and the rest it's plain water .

Increasing protein sounds a good move too . Will do that !! Thanks

Have a motivation photo or item of clothing you can look at when you want to give up. Look at remember why you want to carry on. Good luck.

Hi there, I have the same issue, hate going to the gym but once I'm there I'm ok. Its about making small changes in your diet and then exercising too, I'm having to train my brain too to adapt to this. It is a struggle but only we can overcome the obstacles and excuses we make and reach our goals. Good luck. x

Hi Chocbee34

I have just completed my first week on LCHF which was recommended by another member. There are various so if you are interested just google it and choose one that looks right for you. Already there are good and not so good things in it. Lets start with the good, lost 3lbs :-), not so good, the protein food is more expensive than carbs. I am constipated a not enough roughage in the diet. However, I will see if I can buy less expensive protein next week and drink more water. It is always more expensive initially as new store cupbaord items to buy. Low carb has helped me in the past.

Have a great week.

I'm afraid you've found a four year old post and are unlikely to get a response, NannyVal60.

Be careful when choosing related posts, as they are invariably years old.
