Flabby skin

HI, I'm a 42 year old man that's been dieting since the start of the year. Having started at over 20 stone I have had great success in losing nearly 4 stone using a diet recommended to me by a therapist I see. Described as the fist diet. Basically only three meals a day no bigger than a clentched fist with 2 or 3 pieces or fruit a day.

My problems now is I've started to lose motivation and I'm starting to become very conscious of the flabby shin left especially around my stomach. I also suffer from mental heath issues an the flabby skin is just as demoralizing as the initial weight.

I'm have a very inactive job and would like some suggestions.

Hi Gooner 1002,

You have done so well don't give up now, we all have bad days the main thing is look at what you have achieved already.

Are you able to do the 10,000 steps a day?  Are there stairs in the building maybe you could walk up and down them afew times.  Talk to your dietian see if they can give you some ideas of exercise while at work.

Good luck

Wendy

Thanks Wendy.

Its always nice to have some feed back. I have a completely desk bound job but I could start walking up and down the building steps at lunch. I have a problem with a seriously damaged ankle that restricts moment but I am interested to see how bad it is now that I've lost some weight. Hopefully it will be much better.

Thanks

I have a mini under-desk cycle machine designed specifically for these situations which I highly recommend 😊

Also I was advised to moisturise my whole body every day to help preserve skin elasticity, takes a while (!) but hopefully will pay off 😊

Hi Gooner1002,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS community forum.  Congratulations on your weight loss - you've done incredibly well to lose 4 stones.  That is a great achievement.   I know you're concerned about some flabby skin, but you could perhaps talk to your GP about that, to see what they suggest?  Have you talked to your therapist about it?  I hope they can offer you some reassurance and suggestions.

I'd like to give you the link to our Welcome Newbie thread, which moreless  put together:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

There are lots of comments and suggestion written in that thread about things people have found motivating and helpful.  So maybe you'll find some things there that will add to what you already know.

Do have a read through our Pinned posts too (top right-hand-side of the homepage).  There's a recipe post there too, which is fun to read through, and you might get some new ideas for meal ideas.

Hope you have a good week, and hope to see you round and about in the forum. Gottodothis  this (Wendy) has given you some great suggestions already, and I think it's a great idea to get some exercise at lunchtimes in your work place - hope your ankle recuperates well though - as I know you're hoping it will be better now you've lost some weight.

Lowcal :-)

Fidget, little movements may help, I'm thinking pelvic floor, arm excercises, general twisting and moving, it all adds up!   Look up stomach excercises, by that I mean nothing too tough, it will help a bit.

I understand you being demoralised it happens to us all, life is easier when we were lighter tho, I agree with the others about the loose skin tho.

Good luck
