Ever since I gained weight in my first pregnancy I have been riding a roller-coaster. Many temporary success have come to the detriment of my body and over all health. 1000 cal work outs and starvation diets only led to a weight rebounds As drastic as the losses. I got addicted to the reaction of others when I would disappear for 2 weeks reamerging 2stone lighter but I have damaged my body inside and out and still ended up obese. i have pain in my feet every day my skin hurts at times I am permanently uncomfortable with neck and back pain. Not to mention I am on medication for 2 illnesses 1 for life both which may have been caused by my yoyo diets(I hate that term),

I saw a.dietitian at the hospital and I have been dieting for.20 years I knew all the science and info she had to share but it's consistently applying it that is the issue. I have tried orlistat which was amazing, my eating habits were effected but I ran out and relapsed. I wish there were rehabilitation centers for fat people. I need 6 months to kick my addiction to sugary food so I can reenter my life able to abstain, like any other kind of addict I need abstinence to really make change.

Hello ellissia

You have taken a most important first step in deciding that today you will make changes. There's no need to look backwards, you aren't going that way!

Tell yourself that from today you are going to start to change how you live your life. you already have lots of nutritional information, and have already decided that 'crash' or very low calorie 'diets' aren't for you, and I agree whole heartedly. To make permanent changes to eating behaviour needs some research in finding the right eating plan for you. I follow a calorie counted plan because I get enough to eat and nothing is banned. I have also worked hard to create good eating habits, gradually reducing added sugar etc (this was easier than I anticipated actually 😊 )

So put your best foot forward, you have lost weight before so I don't doubt you will do it again, have some faith in yourself 😊

Very best of luck

Anna

Hi Elissia, you can do it, but this time you will do it the right way. Eating healthy, nutritious food, while increasing your movement. You will be surprised at how much you can eat when you are very overweight - and still lose weight!

I started here with (at least) 9 stone to lose last September and I have lost nearly 5 of those now.

To cure my sugar addiction, I went totally no sugar last summer (before joining here and officially before my diet started) and it really helped stop those cravings.

At first, my exercise was limited, but I joined a local gym and despite feeling embarrassed at being the fattest there, I was made to feel very welcome and it feels like a second home to me now. My fitness has consequently improved massively and I quite often stare at my forearms in amazement as I see muscles ripple under the skin, LOL!

So join in the fun on here and feel confident that you can do it.

Also, have you seen the welcome newbie thread? It is here and is full of useful links to activities in the forum: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
