Calorie counting & low carb

Well it hasn't been easy but I have managed to lose about 2 lbs in about 4 weeks. I don't mind it being slow as long as it's going the right way!

Thanks to you people's advice, as well as counting calories and less carbs...(apart from today when every meal was carb! But I'll start again being good tomorrow..)

Thank you. Let's keep going despite the relapses.

  • Inspiring reading. You'll find your own way to keep the pounds off. Extra walking, being out of doors will also help. Good luck!

  • That is so true, we all will find our own way, and as i always say, we are on the right track, why because we have made that first step to change our eating habits. It is just for us to not take losing weight soo seriously, and do the things we know to do. Like you said extra walking. finding ways to be active, and eating the right things, and we will see the weight melt away. Good luck to you, and all the best

  • Thanks Health C!

I've found the conscious dieting secondary to the change from a sedentary life style : being outside, walking, biking etc for two hours a day in all weather conditions. My goal was to lose 10lbs, I've lost 3 lbs slowly, but the real gain has been in stamina, low blood pressure and low cholesterol. Good luck to back to you and right you are, we find our own way and own goals.

  • I have cut carbs but my weight didn't shift. Then I had more carbs in a meal and next day my weight dropped! Seems we do need carbs but not too many and not every day.

Think my body holds on to weight thinks it's being starved. Few carbs seems to kick start the weight loss. I'm also doing more exercise and only have 3 meals a day with no snacks. It's hard but it is working.

    Keep up the good work.

  • I know it can be hard, but the fact that we take this first step, it means we are on the right track. There are times when we fall, but the most important thing is that we get back up and carry on. Rome wasn't built in a day, and like everything else, if we want to lose weight healthily and keep it off, we have to make a decision to do so one day at a time. We can only do the best we can, and as long as we are doing the right things with balance we will see results overtime. We all know how many calories we should have per day, and if we consume more than we should, we will gain weight. If we consume less, we will lose weight. I say continue to eat the things you love, in small portions, not everyday, and be as active as you can, and we will see results.

  • Not to worry, i can see you have the right mind set, and you are on the right track. We are human beings, and prone to making mistakes, but all is not lost. keep on keeping on, and gradually, slowly but surely you will reap the rewards

  • Hi Keep it up , it is a slow process and we are all different. I have found calories counting works for me. I am in week six of my NHS diet and have started off at 14st 13 lbs . I now weigh in at 14st 2 lbs. So thats 1 or 2 lbs a week. So what I am saying whatever works for you stay with it. Be positive and I am sure you will get there. Its a case of mind over matter. The very best of luck.

  • Wonderful Mr Old Guy76. I like the name oldguy. All of us will get old one day, if we are still alive. It is a brilliant way to live out your life looking good, and feeling great. One is not too old to do anything. Its the mind set as you rightly say. Again i say, we have to set our mind, and keep it set. Anything we need to achieve in life will take time. We can set goals and work towards achieving them, but we should not be obsessed over our aims. Do what we need to do in balance, stick to it, and watch things work out in no time. losing weight SAFELY, will take time, and we have to invest in that time, and do whatever is needed. It's just like being in debt. It takes a blink of an eye to rack up debts, but it will take a looooooong time to get rid of those debts. if you win the lottery its different. We just have to take the bull by the horn, confront, and tackle the things that got us in debt, in our case make us put on weight in the first place, commit ourselves to put things right, and get on with it. I am sorry to disappoint anyone, but there is no quick fix to undo any damage done, whether to loose weight, or get out of debt. Don't beat yourself up when you mess up, as this is part of life, but NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! GIVE UP UNTIL YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL.

  • Thank you , I like your style and keep it up. No doubt we will achieve our goals. Stay positive and keep on with the attitude. Best wishes Oldguy

  • Just like me! Six weeks and I have only lost 2 1/2 lbs and I am counting every day. Today I went out with friends for lunch and relaxed. I will get back on track tomorrow. I will do some extra walks and see if it helps. Good luck. We will win!
