3 stone to loose, first step onto the mountain!!!

Fatgirlslimforsummer profile image

I have been overweight for a long time. Meeting my husband and settling down didn't help, cue a 3 stone weight gain!!! To be back to my healthy best I need to loose 3 stone, very daunting, so I have decided to take it a day at a time rather than focusing on that 3 stone mountain. I attended my first Zumba class on wednesday and absolutely loved it so I am going to go there twice a week, anyone had success with Zumba? Also any good budget meals that are quick and easy?

Thanks x

Welcome FGSFS I think you have come to the right place. Looks like we have about the same amount to lose and I am aiming to lose that by the summer too. Losing at a rate of between one to two pounds a week, coupled with your Zumba classes, I am sure you will smash it! John :-)

Hi Fatgirlslimforsummer (love the name by the way). I am sure going to a Zumba class twice a week will mean you will burn loads of calories. Quick and easy dinner for me is stirfry vegetables with chicken. Sometimes I have a few noodles too depends on how many calories I have eaten during the day. Also trying to curb carbs after 6pm. In fact have just had some 'boodles' from Sainsburys tonight. They are butternut squash noodles. Great with bolognese and on Weight Watchers (old point system) they are free. Good luck for your weight loss journey.

Hi Fatgirlslimforsummer,

I only joined yesterday and also have 3 stone + to loose. My favourite quick meal is southern baked chicken.

Chicken breast pounded to an inch thickness (I cover with cling film and give it a good bash with the base of a sauce pan.

Place a cup full of sage and onion stuffing mix in a plastic bag and give that a bash too. (good recipe if you have had a bad day) ;-)

Dip chicken in beaten egg and pop in bag of stuffing mix - give it a good shake.

Spray baking try with fry light and place chicken and give it a good spray on top.

Bake in oven around 160 for 15/20 mins.

Boil fresh beetroot while waiting for it to cook.

Yum!!!

Hi Fatgirlslimforsummer,

Welcome to the forum! I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. It's a friendly and supportive place. I can already see one of your goals, clearly described in your 'name' so here's to you being slimmer by the Summer, there's lots of time between now and then. You could achieve a lot.

It's great that you've enjoyed your first Zumba class on Wednesday and that you really loved it. Attending that twice a week sounds like great exercise. I don't do Zumba myself, but I know of plenty of people who love it.

Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post, that was put together by a lovely forum member called Moreless? Here's a link so you can read it, if you want to take a look:

There are lots of things going on in the forum - so have a read through and do join in with anything that interests you. Our next Monday group weigh-in session is 14th March, so maybe see you there, if the idea of a weekly weigh-in appeals.

Regarding recipes, there is a great thread about Healthy Snacks and Recipes that Lucca10 has compiled, and that is also in the Welcome Newbie post, as well as in the Pinned Posts (right-hand-side of homepage).

Enjoy the forum and make the most of being here.

Have a lovely weekend and a great week ahead.

Thanks for all your replies! Safe to say this last couple of days has been a MONUMENTAL DISASTER!!! I am a classic emotional eater and had to have a horse put down, so in the cupboard I went hoovering anything I could find. The result? I still felt sad but I also felt bloated and guilty and FAT! Got to curb the emotional feasting!! Weight still the same so at least I haven't gained!! Wish me more luck for next week, Zumba again Monday so hopefully that will be the pick me up I need!!

I make sauces out of tinned tomatoes or the crushed ones in a jar. ...add spices for curry, herbs or smoked paprika and then add a dollop of fat free fromage frais. There's 3 sauces for lean chicken or turkey 😊
