Planning ahead and rest days

i am having to go to a conference in Birmingham on Thursday and am dreading it as I will be away from home from 6 am till 9 pm I know I will not manage to do any exercise that day although I am hoping I will get a chance to at least achieve my 10,000 steps so I have been trying to put in some extra steps, squats and bicep dips and curls to hopefully compensate for my loss of a day, I know we should have a rest day but I still want to at least try to always do my 10,000 even on rest days, what does everyone else do on a rest day do you try to get to 10.000 steps or do you have a different strategy

Hi Elacol68,

I love your picture - really nice! I hope you cope ok with the Conference in Birmingham, and it's great that you have a plan to enable you to keep doing your daily steps and also some strength exercises too.

Regarding my own 'rest days' - I sometimes do absolutely nothing exercise related, and on other occasions I still go for a walk of between 7.5km up to 12km length, depending on how I'm feeling. So I guess a 'rest day' for me refers more to my strength exercises than to the walking/steps. But I do listen to my body, and some weeks I know I need a rest from walking too, and hence I have what feels like a very 'lazy' day.

Hope you have a great week.

Lowcal :-)
