Oh yes just remembered something. When I'm craving something naughty (usually sweets or crisps - a whole family size pack!) I can distract myself and resist temptation for a while, even days, but eventually have to give in to 'get it out of my system' - and it would usually be the while bag gone.
This time, however, I decided to try a bit of a psychological trick and allowed myself to buy the temptation - after resisting for 2 or 3 days - but on the agreement that I would eat only HALF the packet instead of ALL of it. Well I actually ate about two thirds (which was still an achievement) then got rid of the rest (asked husband to hide them or throw away).
The idea being that I get out of the mindset that I am currently in (that I HAVE to eat the lot) and know that I CAN control the quantity.
Next time I am still tempted after several days of trying distraction techniques, I will try to reduce the quantity further, thereby teaching myself that I CAN choose to have control, and have just a couple of sweets, instead of gobbling the whole lot!
It's about teaching myself that I AM IN CONTROL.
