Hi Jesterpuss1,

You haven't done anything wrong, that is an excellent loss to have achieved and you're making great progress to have lost half a stone in 3 weeks.

Please don't cry - spotted that tear on your emoticon. Wipe it away, and try to celebrate your loss - you really have done well.

It's usually just the first week that there's a larger loss on the scales, and then it settles down to anything up to 2 pounds per week, or thereabouts - people vary of course, but I really think you're doing well.

Hope you feel better as the day progresses.

Wishing you a great week ahead.

Lowcal :-)

1lb a week is great! don't be hard on yourself!

my first week I lost 4-5lbs, second week 3-4lbs 3rd week 2lbs and then it settled into 1.5lbs a week until now where its 1lb a week

its takes time to lose no matter how much you have to lose! and longer to get off - longer to stay off

this is a lifestyle change not a quick weight loss diet, maybe you should set your goals to be more achievable? I aim to lose 2lb a week but have worked out what my weight would be if I only lost 1lb a week (for special occasions like my anniversary, holidays etc)

small goals help i.e. reaching certain bmis, every 7lbs, every 1st etc

also you might have lost inches if not weight - so measure yourself :)

Oh Jesterpuss- I know- it feels pants when you dont get what you want but if you normally weigh on Monday then you've still got 4 days of weight loss to go and even if you weigh on Friday youve still got today and a lot can happen in a day trust me!

Have you also considered its your 3rd week on this lifestyle change and every 3 weeks us ladies go through chemical changes which affect how much water we hold?

Also as your weight reduces each 7lbs (i believe?) you need to put your new stats into the NHS bmi checker in order to get a new calorie level- assuming you are using this method.

Take it easy on yourself - check the things you can change and let go of the rest- weight loss is never ever linear in my experience!

Keep your chin up : )

May not have done anything wrong. On that trust me I'm a doctor they said there's lot of things that can affect your weigh in - especially your hormone's! Have also heard that when your dieting your body can get used to what you eat and when. So don't be hard on yourself just keep going it'll all be good in the end. :)

I've had weeks where I know I've been good and not lost much or maintained yet another week when I've had a little cheat I've done better - sometimes it just doesn't make sense.

Give it some extra time. Sometimes, weight loss goes slower for some people and faster for other people. What do you eat?

Jesterpuss1 profile image
Jesterpuss1 in reply to Activity2004

Hi I have porridge for breakfast, ryvitas topped with laughing cow lite spread and tomato at lunch time followed by three strawberries sliced with a small banana and topped with a low fat yoghurt. And then lean meat and loads of different veg for tea and two jaffa cakes with a cup of tea mid evening! Is that too much? Ha ha its sounds quite a lot now I've written it down! 😊

Thanks everyone! Sorry about the whinging! Usually when I start a new eating plan I lose loads of weight the first few weeks so I'm finding it hard to believe I've only lost a pound! My husband's dieting too and he's ready to throw in the towel as he hasn't lost anything this week! To make matters worse my friend told me the first 7lbs you lose is water!! Anyway I'm over it now, ill keep going and hopefully it will pay off next week! Thankyooo..... crisis averted, your all great! 😘

are you measuring yourselves too? make sure you also take some before photos to compare your loss even if its minor it might cause a difference in inches etc

keep at it - think long term results!

No I haven't measured myself, not keen on photos of myself but I will do, thanks hydrogirl! I am thinking long term, first time ever I think! 😊

7 lbs in 3 weeks is really good! Well done! That's half a stone! They say to aim to lose between 1 and 2 lbs per week.

I hear your frustration and sadness in not losing more. But keep on going.

I have loads to lose and try to aim for a loss a week - sometimes i achieve it, sometimes I don't and sometimes I gain. If I maintain or gain, I am disappointed but I try to remind myself that life is full of ups and downs in more ways than one - as long as I see my weight overtime decreasing then I'm happy.

So I guess my message to you is chin up - you've done really well and if you keep at it you'll soon have lost even more!! You can and will do it!

Thanks Tinkle72, the trouble is the weight goes on MUCH easier than it comes off! I guess I'm gonna have to keep doin what I'm doin and hopefully the next few weeks will see a good weight loss! Everyone is so supportive on the the forum, I'm so.... glad I joined! Usually I would probably have given up today! So thankyooo... 😊

It definitely does go on quicker than it comes off. I just have to look at a cream cake and the pounds are added! :o))

Hi Madmax69, thanks for replying to my post! I luv the look of the body blade! I will definitely be getting one! When I've bought exercise equipment before I've always ended up selling it as, it was in the way or too hard to use! But this looks great, and easy to store! I'm feeling more optimistic now! Thankyooo.....😁

Well done on losing 1 pound this week, that's brilliant. If I lost 1 pound this week I would be over the moon so be proud of yourself for what you have achieved. Be patient on your journey. Losing 1-2 lbs a week is perfectly acceptable weight loss and you've already lost 7 pounds in just 3 weeks :-) many congratulations on your loss so far and keep going. As the weeks go by those numbers will soon add up :-)

Wow you've got it covered, I'm impressed! My meals are similar only trouble being - I hate any kind of fish! I eat quite a lot of chicken and I don't mind a little pork but not much! I like beef and lamb but I've really cut everything down! I'm gonna try to drink more water as I'm sure I don't drink enough. I'm trying to cut as much sugar out of my diet that I can, but there's so much hidden in foods. I don't eat processed food at all, you've given me some good ideas 😊 thanks 😁

Good sensible weight loss 😊 My weight varies (A LOT) I can be up or down 4-6 lbs day by day, so I try to look at the overall trend, I tell myself it's a war not a battle!! If you have stuck to plan the weight MUST come down . . . 😊😊😊 good luck!

Hi Anna61, yeah I was thinking earlier just how much I've changed my diet, and how much less I'm eating! The weights gotta start shifting soon! I'm feeling more optimistic now and going to try to be extra good this weekend! Weekends are never easy!! Hope you have a nice weekend 😊 and good luck to you too! πŸ˜‰

People wonder why they find it hard to quit sugar when they are on a diet. The way I look at it is why go "cold turkey" when you have been eating way too much. If you were an alcoholic or drug addict would you want to go cold turkey or reduce down gradually. We are all addicted to sugar. Cut back gradually and it will be easier to cut out totally.

Jesterpuss1 profile image

Yep your right! I'm making sure I have a treat now n then! I just know if I don't I'll start cheating! It's happened before! I'm aiming for a lifestyle change this time! And I know its early days but so far so good! Mind you its weigh in day tomorrow! So we'll see!! Thanks for replying, and good luck to you! 😁
