I can relate to many of these - telegraph.co.uk/men/active/...

Any other blokes on here care to share which ones they have experienced? and women too!

Rob :)

Ah yes, seatbelts - especially on planes and garden chairs in fact any chairs arms, never can be sure if I'll fit in them :(

My lard was/is in the worst place, all around my belly, so I've never had a noticeably fat arse, legs or moobs, or big rolls of flab or skin, despite my once 19 stone. As my cousin told me, "You're in good shape. Round is a good shape!". So not much of that actually applies to me. Not sure why I've never had a problem with seat belts, but I haven't, and I used to fly an awful lot. I guess I'm quite broad, and haven't been big in the places that matter to seat belts.

My GPs have been quite nice and tolerant with me. A few jokey remarks, along with some clear advice, but nothing too harsh. I guess the worst thing was standing on the scales one day, looking down and realising that I couldn't see even the tip of my John Thomas. OK, TMI, I know...

I've never really had a problem with smug and sanctimonious skinnies. I can get pretty stroppy when required, so if I ever saw someone staring at me, I'd give them "the look", and they'd shrink away. I went on a hostile environment training course a few years ago, where they gave advice on how to deal with potential robberies or kidnappings. The instructors kept reminding us that "you can only be intimidated with your consent". I've kind of adopted that as a personal motto. Noone messes with flavourfiend!!

I think women have a far worse time of it, where criticism, insults and public shaming are concerned. I've seen less of it in the USA. Though that may have something to do with the number of concealed carry permits. ☺

Rob, a very interesting article.

I recognised myself in item number 1 as the baddie who look at other people shopping. I always do that to pass time while waiting. Like a game of guessing if they live alone, have a dog, cat, bird, children, having a party or are part of a sport's group or what sort of people they are. I wish I could tell them of my experience and "instruct" them on what I see wrong in their shopping.

Terrible you may say but this is just me. I don 't see it as a negative, just as wanting to help. Wanting to share my happiness of the new me and my discovery of enjoyment in my life.

I find the rest of the items quite upsetting. It is so true and heart breaking.

As a woman, I also find that we have it harder because we are expected to look a certain way while men can get away with weight if they have other attributes.

The article is very true, sad! But true, as a woman the one for me has to be the seat belt, I've worried and still do if my bum will fit in the airplane seat and if the seatbelt will be long enough! It always has done and the belt with room to spare! But it doesn't stop me worrying! So this year will be different! Watch this space! :)
