Reality strikes!

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all feeling goodπŸ˜ƒ

Weigh in this week and have lost a 1/2 Ib. Few weeks before Xmas I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and started medication, I know this will affect my weight loss so I am not expecting more. πŸ˜ƒ

I still feel really tired but I am loving the 80 day challange and it's really helping me to stay active and challange myself when sometimes it would be easier to not !! So a huge thanks to you allπŸ˜ƒ

I am out tonight but have pledged to Dave1961 that I'll stay within my cals, it's so easy to go 'easy' when out socially !!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

  • Hi flossie, love the positivity in your post - nothing is going to stop you from reaching your goal 😊. Enjoy the night out hunny πŸ˜‹

  • Thanks Shellie,

It's going to a long haul but well worth it πŸ˜ƒ

  • Sorry about your diagnosis Flossie. I hope the ne t week is ok for you.

  • Thanks Aqua_marine,

I'll just keep plugging away this last stone could take a while !! Lol

  • The words 'last stone' are pretty good though.

  • Well done for your weight loss. On the positive side at least your underactive thyroid has been discovered and the medication should help you feel well. I know from my mum and sister that an underactive thyroid can really drag you down! When your medication is settled it might actually help you lose weight. Best wishes.

  • Thanks Linggirl,

These health issues are sent to try us eh !! They won't beat us though πŸ˜ƒ

    Have a lovely weekend

  • Good luck for choosing well tonight Flossie, and congrats on the half pound weight loss. It's all adding up :)

  • Thanks Ruth,

I'm focused and thinking one night cannot blow my week.

I'm hoping that making the conscious decision to stay focused before I go out then I will πŸ˜ƒ

  • Hi Flossie,

Congratulations on losing half a pound this week, and I hope you enjoy your meal out tonight. The Around the World Challenge is so motivating isn't it - and also Dave1961's daily pledge challenge too - good luck with achieving your pledge for today. Hopefully you'll find some great menu choices and will be within your calorie allowance. Enjoy your meal, and have a great weekend.

    Lowcal :-)

  • Thanks Lowcal,

    It's got to be done πŸ˜ƒ !!

  • Hi flossie :-) well done on losing 1/2 lb this week and for keeping active more with the 80 day challenge which I am finding truly motivating as well. I agree with you that it is so easy to go easy when out socializing and that's why when I go out I don't tend to worry to much and just follow that day with a lower calorie day. I don't do much like that often so when it does happen I help myself LOL :-)

Have a great evening out tonight my lovely and a lovely weekend :-)

  • Thanks Traff,

Stayed on track last night so feeling really pleasedπŸ˜ƒ

Have woken with a heavy cold so not planning much today, so hope to get a few kms in walking the dog, every little helps.

    Have a lovely weekend

Ps when's your hen do ???

  • To be honest floss I didn't even think about that. Don't go out anymore so if I were to do something it would be at home. We will see what happens with that :-) thanks for reminding me hun x

  • I hope you start to feel better soon floss and it's great that you stayed on track on your evening out well done :-) keep warm

  • Well done you! Enjoy yourself tonight :)

  • Thanks Steph,

Had a good night and stayed on track !

  • Hi Flossie,

Me too - unde-ractive thyroid about 18months ago. Medication has improved my life - not so dreadfully tired. However, don't expect it to "help" your weight loss - hasn't helped me! I do lose weight at about 2lb per week (start weight 13stone height 5.6) but I do have to work at it! Eating lots of fruit and veg - am a vegetarian - so quorn and eggs are my staple. And it does help that my husband is a great cook and makes mealtimes very special. Have cut down on carbs and fats and try to brisk walk in my lunch hours from work. When you think that to put weight on - so easy!!! Takes a bit of effort to take it off!!! Also doing Dry January and feeling good. Good luck.

  • Thanks littleduck,

I really appreciate your timely wordsπŸ˜ƒ

Yesterday I did a bit of research via the Internet re diet/ exercise with thyroid issues and I have decided on a similar approach to you.

I do favour carbs and in the past have limited them but I soon go back to them! but now realise I need to be more mindful re carbs and increase my protein.

I am not a vegetarian but don't eat a lot of meat, I've made a quorn chilli and looking to be a bit more adventurous!!

Struggling with the fatigue but determined not to give in to itπŸ˜ƒ

I have a review with GP next week and meds may need adjusting but we'll see, I don't want to use it as an excuse.I feel I need to find ways to work with it and get these remaining pesky pounds off for goodπŸ˜ƒ

    You've inspired me{{{{hug}}}}

  • Bless you Flossie x x yes I thought the weight would fall off me. Ha ha . Got that wrong but it is going. Worst carbs for me is bread 🍞. Don't do chocolate but love cheese and have to eat once in a while no more than a match box piece though. Try also not to sit for longer than 20 mins at a time. Just get up and walk around the room will help. Go girl πŸ‘§ x

  • You are a girl after my own heart !! πŸ˜ƒ

I love good fresh bread and strong cheese, and a good old fashioned cheese scone I'm in heaven lol

I've tried the reduced fat cheese but I'd rather have a small bit of the 'good stuff' 😈

Thanks for the suggestion of moving every 20 mins I'll certainly give it a go !!

    Enjoy your weekend.
