Every act of self-control is a battle won in this war!

Feeling quite chuffed tonight, standing here all alone on my soapbox! :)

Today was one of those difficult times - important meeting to attend but STARVING, having not eaten since 12pm. Despite the temptation to pull into the four (count 'em, four!!!) drive thrus on the journey from Waterloo to Enfield AND having to pull into an M&S petrol station (can a petrol station GET any more decadent than M&S?) I managed to hold off on snacking and waited until getting home to have my evening meal. Tiny victory to some, but a MASSIVE one (all puns intended) for me! It would have been soooo easy to have my regular just-to-bide-me-over snack of coke zero, crisps and chunky kitkat! So glad I didn't cave in....question is, though, does the battle against the urges get any easier?

Woohoo bb wtg you! :)

That's the first of many massive achievements coming your way. Give yourself a pat on the back :)

For me personally, whilst I would still like all the yummies I used to consume, I don't crave them any more. I like being in control :)

That's good to know that the control comes. Does that mean that you never ever have any of the snacks you loved?

That's correct, but we're each different. I know that one would lead to all, so I've chosen to go for none. Others allow themselves a small amount, worked into their daily calorie allowance. You have to do what's right for you :)

Hi Bbwnoire71,

Great that you've achieved that, really well done! Hope you enjoyed your evening meal.

I usually allow myself one piece of dark chocolate after my evening meal which I drink with a cup of coffee, and I always look forward to it and savour it.

Similarly I allow myself a dessert on the weekend and also a packet of crisps (again on the weekend), and again I savour that. I find that having those things help me remain in control and I don't crave them at other times.

At the start of my weight loss journey it was very different, as I would often overeat all sorts of things, and didn't have very much control. But my taste buds have changed now, and I find I don't have cravings anymore.

Well done - and hope you have another great day tomorrow.

Lowcal :-)

Maybe that is the way forward for me, Lowcal, maybe nothing for a year and then little and seldom.

I never abstained - I think I would have found that too difficult, but like Moreless says, everyone is different, and what works for one person doesn't necessarily suit another.

Good luck! You're doing well so far - keep going. :-)

I think you deserve some medals 🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖

That's fantastic you should be SO proud of yourself!

Self control/willpower really is like a muscle.

The more you use it the stronger it gets.

Go you.

I agree with above.. I remember the last time I did the 12 week plan, I reached a point where all the sweets and crisps became unappealing, and just the thought of eating them made me feel a little heavy, as in the feeling you get when you've eaten a lot of junk and feel lethargic.

I would always allow myself chocolate though, and usually just one piece that I would savour and look forward to.

as for the cravings/temptations, it has helped me to have a snack at hand (a healthy one) and to pre-plan it into my day.. so I have something to look forward to to snack on (I'm a snacking machine).

But you did excellent to break your habit and be aware of it, it's so difficult, but you did it! :)

Yes, same. I always have a 'bounce' snack ball in my bag. Not exciting enough to tempt me to eat it willy-nilly but there for exactly those hungry emergencies. I noticed they even sell them at the till in my tesco garage.

That's a great tip...planning is everything. If you know you are likely to be hungry before you get a chance to have your meal, factor a small snack into your day to keep you going, and carry it in your bag or put it in the car every morning as appropriate. I personally would also add a bottle of water to that snack moment, so that you are able to sip in between eating the snack, spacing it out tends to make you more satisfied.
