I've been saying it for ages and after a particularly bad year personally in 2015 I am determined to make a lifestyle change this year and improve my health. I need to do this for me! Any tips, stories and motivation most welcome :-)

Hi and welcome Catjenks :)

Sorry to hear that 2015 wasn't great for you, but chin up, 2016's going to be fantastic! :)

I have a few suggestions for you and of course it will be your choice whether or not you take me up on them ?

1. NHS 12 week plan

nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-...

2. Monday group weigh-in. This is last week's to have a look at

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh....

3. Motivation to exercise

Wishing you every success :)

Thank you for the reply. I'm really determined to make this year a great one.

I've downloaded the 12 week plan and will try and print it off in work on Monday. How do I access the Monday weigh in as the link says the page no longer exists? Your help and advice is much appreciated :-)

On Monday, Lowcal will post a new thread for the Monday group weigh-in and you will be able to reply to it, introduce yourself and log your starting weight if you wish, although there's no pressure to do that.

We encourage people to be active within the thread, ie commenting, encouraging, commiserating with other members. You'll find it a really positive and motivating place to be :)

Now then, how do you feel about our trip Around the World? ;)

Loving the profile pic too :)

Hi,

Keep reading the posts here and also look at these threads - healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh.......

Hopefully they will inspire you :)

My advice to get you started it to make small changes you can maintain for life and check out your portion control. Also try to walk more as it is a great form of exercise.

Good luck :)

Lots of people don't want to face how much they weigh but as they start to lose weight everyone says they wish they knew exactly what they weighed so they knew how much they lost.

I would suggest that you weigh yourself and get you a tape measure and take your waist, arm, leg, etc measurements so you can see how many inches you're losing. It's a great motivator for when you don't see the results on the scale - you still sometimes see results in the measurements.

I totally agree - I didn't weigh for a month and didn't measure for about 4 months and regret both!
