Hi lostsheep, I'm in the same boat as you. Started today, age 47, 6 stone to lose. Good luck to us! :)

Join the club - I'm 42 and joined this forum with 9 stone 7 ilb to lose!

I'm now 5 weeks in to calories counting and I'm about 10lbs lighter and lost and inch off my hips....

I've spent years on different diets, and failed miserably every time. This time I downloaded the nhs 12 week plan, to get me started, and its working!

I'd suggest you try downloading the myfitnesspal app as it makes counting calories so easy - you can even scan barcodes!

You could also download the fitbit app. It can record your activity and can 'talk' to myfitnesspal,

Keep coming back here....the support, help and advice from the other members of amazing!!

Good luck!

Good luck to you! I hope you find your buddy?

Everyone here is lovely, we all support each, no matter, how much not how little we have to lose, and of course celebrate our loses, and support each other, through plateaus and gains.

Hi Lostsheep,

Good luck with everything. This forum is a very friendly place. There's a Weigh-in Group that runs every Monday (I post it just before 7am on Mondays) and if you would like to join us, you'd be very welcome. Anyone is welcome to join in. We just try to encourage and support each other on our weight-loss journeys, and we like to weigh on Monday mornings to ensure that we are accountable for the week, and to help us survive the weekend (that's my goal in posting it then, and many brave people also weigh that day!).

I know group 'weigh-ins' aren't everyone's cup of tea, but just wanted to put it as an option to consider. :-)

Hope you are having a good weekend, and good luck with next week too.

Hope to see you around and about in the forum.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Lostsheep,

Really sorry to hear your gym buddy let you down, but it's great that you went ahead at 5am yesterday and also today. I hope you enjoyed your sessions, and that you are feeling good about that. It's such a big achievement to tackle a gym session alone, when you've been anticipating going with someone.

Maybe over time, you'll find you get to know some of the people at the gym - and then you won't mind so much on those occasions when your gym buddy doesn't turn up. But perhaps your gym buddy will be able to attend more next week - sometimes weeks can be more challenging than others.

Wishing you a great week.

Lowcal :-)

hi sheep,

obviously your 'gym buddy' hasn't got the same intent as you now possess. if you are a member of a properly run gym I'm sure one of the trainers can give you a schedule to follow, which in conjunction with a planned diet will give you the impetus to get your goals.

and don't worry too much, there are sometimes people worse off than you: imagine being a short, fat, bald, 62 yrs old northerner (living in the south, AND trying to get your life back!!?

...and not even a decent footie team to follow.

so well done for starting and keep your eye on the long term.
