Anyone late 60s and very overweight like me?

I have been putting my head in the sand about my overeating but having had a serious talking to by the nurse practioner at the doctor's surgery, I have now embarked on my mission to lose weight. So to help me, I would very much like a buddy to speak to regularly, the spaniels aren't interested lol.

Hi Sibyll,

Not late 60's, but late 50's :)

If you log on to the site every day, you'll find dozens of people eager to chat to you and support you on your journey.

I think the spaniels are looking very attentive :)

All the best to you.

Hi Sybill, 68 and overweight. 5ft 4 and 12 and a half stone. Most of it gathered around my waist and hips. I have a sweet tooth, my downfall. Love the spaniels, I lost my lovely old Lab last October and miss him and walking him. Not the same walking without a doggy companion. Hope to post with you over the weeks.

Hi Gilly,

we are similar height and age and my weight as well as waist and hips is on thighs (I have the most dreadful thunder thighs with cellulite, so I doubt I would ever dare to appear in less than crops) and bust. If I was 12 and a half stones I would be so pleased.

I can't do this fitness plan on here as I have arthritis in my ankles, so I walk as far as I can then have a rest.

I have been being careful with what I eat for 10 days now and have lost three pounds. I am not calling it a diet as I break diets. To my great embarrassment the chemist pulled me aside three days ago to talk about my weight. Well I quickly got over my initial shock at being taken into a back room because he was so helpful. He talked about food from the scientific point of view and what he said works was not what the old Weight Watchers or Slimming World suggest. So I am giving some of his ways a go and voila immediately the weight is coming off.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Hi H-g,

we are of a similar age and I am on my own too. My weight is on my bust, waist, hips and thighs (I have the most dreadful thunder thighs with cellulite, so I doubt I would ever dare to appear in less than crops) . What weight are you and how long have you been trying to lose? I live in Gorleston, Norfolk and love where I live. Nearly three years ago I lived in SW France.

The spaniels are great and as I am sure your cat is, they make the difference between a house and a home.

I would like to write to you and I will be interested in your story.

Hi HG,

I think when the weight starts to come off the motivation to keep on will be generated. I have a problem with my hemoglobin and have to have regular blood tests. So when I go to see the nurse practitioner or doctor they has always tried to galvanize me into action. It wasn't really until I went to pick up my prescription and even the chemist pulled me aside and read my fortune about being overweight that I decided to have a serious go. I found this site and I find it a comfort that I am not alone in my struggle. I think you are right in staying away from the scales most times but I have joined the Monday weigh in group so I will be weighing in tomorrow first thing and hope to have lost a little.

My cousin, Sheena, lives in Scotland not far from Edinburgh.
