Need to lose 30kg

Hello,, I am 18 years old and female, I am 5ft 7" and currently weigh 93kg. As I am a dancer I do carry a bit of muscle but not a lot,, I already do 2 hours of dance a week plus an hour of star jumps, skipping and crunches but it doesn't seem to be helping. To have a decent dance career I need to be able to lose 30kg at least, I was just wondering if there's any tips on how to do so, how long would it take, meal plans etc..

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Thanks in advance

Abbie

First and foremost I would like to say that I am proud of you for wanting to seek advice on obtaining better health. I too am overweight and seeking support for weight loss as well. I am glad that I came across HealthUnlocked and NHS weight loss guide in order to receive the additional support I need to accomplishing my health goals. I have lost weight in the past, but this time it has been a bit harder for me because I have a lot of stress in my life that reduces my motivation for accomplishing my weight loss goals. What I did was I did cardio and weightlifting (a form of exercise 30 minutes) like 5 days a week, controlled my portions, watched my calories with myfitnesspal online calorie counter, consumed only water or unsweetened tea, and limited my junk food intake to a minimum. I lost 100lbs over about a 5 month period because I was eating less than my calorie goal while doing all of the weight loss tips I mentioned above. I would not suggest you eat less calories but I am just telling you what I did. If you were to what I have mentioned it would totally be up to you but always be safe okay? I support you all the wayyyyyyyyy. Let's lose this weight girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless!!!!!!!!!

100lbs is amazing! what was your exercise routine, if you don't mind me asking?

Actually when I look back on it some of my workouts lasted for 45 minutes also. I did a lot of the fitness blender workouts on youtube, I ran the straights and walked the curves of an outdoor tracks four laps, lifted weights, I walked in doors, I switched up my workout routines a lot. One day I could be doing aerobics, another walking 3 miles in doors, or doing kickboxing with an online video online. Please keep in mind that I was also taking GNC vitapak for women with a fat burning pill inside of it as well as replacing one meal with vanilla protein shake, and I was measuring all my food with measuring cups and spoons. Also I cut my portions in half, so if my shake told me to eat 2 scoops of protein a day, I only ate one. If my canned goods said a serving size was one cup, I would only eat half a cup. If the bag of cookies said the serving size was 5 cookies I would only eat 2 cookies a day. There was soooo much that I did to lose that weight you can see how the 100lbs came off so fast. What caused me to gain some weight back is that I slacked off of doing all that because I looked so good when I lost the weight that I figured If I eat some junk food it would not hurt me because I lost so much weight. However a few days of eating junk food again turned into eating junk food more frequently during the month and I gained some weight back. So now I am here to seek support from others to get my weight down again during my demanding schedule of work school (including homework besides only attending classes) and church ministry.

Wow, you did brilliantly especially over such a short time.

Took me 14 months to lose that amount of weight but I think I'm a bit more relaxed about things and I go on too many holidays and short breaks when I don't worry about my eating so much. I don't count calories but do shortish weight and cardio workouts 4 times a week.

Wonderful, Andy. Yes those holidays filled with junk food will try to get us every time! Keep up the good work and I look forward to giving and receiving support from myself and you all.

you sound like you do a lot of exercise so definitely you need to have a look at what you are eating as this might be the reason the scales aren't moving, you have the same stats as me! I also have 30kg to lose :-(

Have a look at the NHS weight loss plan.

I am sure you know how vulnerable dancers are to serious eating disorders which have a terrible impact on their well being so do be very compassionate with yourself and be ready for this process to take a while. That said it may be that if you've not paid much attention to what you are eating and how much before, simply recording your eating will make a significant difference. The risks from being overweight are reduced by your current active lifestyle which is great.

As you will have seen, there are plenty of people ready to help you lose money and themselves to gain it.

This is the weight loss NHS forum so there are lots of people here using the NHS weight loss plan who will be able to help you make sense of it.

Hi

I would think, the key for you must be primarily diet as it seem although you already do an extensive amount of cardi and presumably strength based training, albeit your body is now conditioned to that type of exercise. You will have to follow a careful slow diet losing 1-2lb per week unless your prepared to lose a higher percentage of muscle than us normal poorly conditioned individuals. You could also look to shock the body by taking on something different on the exercise front, maybe some high intensity, Hit Training?

Good Luck Dave x
