This time I will succeed!

At 18 years old I was 8 stone 8lbs and 5 ft 5. At 29 years old I was 15 stone 4lbs. 31 years old 10 stone 4lbs and now at 39 years old back to 15 stone 7 lbs. Weight watchers worked in the past but I cant get into it now. Slimming world-I found just confusing, and in desperation a few months ago I did the Cambridge diet for 2 weeks- I hated the meals and felt constantly deprived and depressed. Now i've found this site! Doesn't cost anything, sensible eating (slower pace than id like - after all I would like to lose 5 stone next week please!) but sensible. I love the 12 week plan which I have downloaded, and I have committed myself to doing 30 minutes of exercise 5 mornings a week, couch to 5k 3 evenings a week and the odd 2 minute spurts of high activity during the day- (I work from home, sat at computer!). I've also brought myself a portion plate and confess I have also brought some Alli to boost my initial weight loss. I cant feel like this anymore. I hate photos of myself, I feel sluggish and unattractive wearing this fat suit. My kids are 8 and 10 and I want to be fit and healthy and watch them grow up and earn healthy behaviours. I'm 40 in February and I want to be forty and fit, not forty and fat!. Good luck to you all and I look forward to being part of this community. Take care xx

Good luck!! You can do it, just try to stay positive :)

Reducing portion size really can help, (it worked for me), and I know a lot of people on this forum use myfitnesspal to monitor their food intake and count calories. The trickiest thing is keeping up motivation, but there's no better feeling than not only seeing results but also feeling fitter once you lose weight. If it helps, splitting up your end goal into more manageable mini-goals might help with motivation (for instance aiming to lose 1lb, 3lbs, 5lbs etc), as then it's easier to achieve and can make it easier to progress.

Best wishes on your journey :)

Working from home is just the worst, food wise :-( I work from home as well most of the week, and the fridge is always just in the kitchen, ready to be delved into if I hit a particularly boring bit of work that I don't want to do. I've found that Hartleys 10cal jellies are a life saver :-)

Good luck with it - you've done it before, you can do it again :-) I'm starting the C25k next week as well (once kids go back to school), so I'll be with you there ! Have you seen the C25k forum ?

Hi, welcome to this amazing forum, really positive and supportive. I have never enjoyed being part of any slimming club....lasted a week! But this is just so different. Keep posting and let people be your cheer leaders. Also when you're posting, you're not thinking about eating. (That sounds a bit selfish of me but it is true!) so welcome and enjoy.

Glad to hear you're with us here and you have realised that a quick fix just doesn't work. I have spent 40 years looking for quick fixes when if I had just resigned myself to focusing for a year I could have had 39 years at my normal weight! :)

My work situation sees me stuck behind a desk but I am free to and come as I please so I actually get up every 20 minutes and do a lap of the shop and up and down 2 flights of stairs.

It takes me less than a minute but over a day it equates to about 6000 steps!

Worth thinking about for your house. My basic rule is everytime I get up from my desk for coffee, tea, toilet, paper...anything...I have to do a lap back to my desk and then go off and do whatever.

Myfitnesspal is a godsend - definitely get it (free) if you are OK with apps on your phone . Erases the need for a food diary and calorie book.
