Has anyone taken 5-htp for weight loss or migraines? If so, did it work? Were there any side effects?

Thanks!

I tried it for depression (- it is a precusor amino acid for serotonin) but stopped after I started SSRIs (prescription anti-depressants) because it interacts with them and is dangerous to take with them - I started shaking all over when I took both together. So check with your doctor that it doesn't interact with any medications you are taking.

I seem to remember being warned that it upsets some people's tummy slightly. It might also affect your sleep. But I didn't notice anything other than an improvement in mood. I didn't notice any impact on weight loss or migraines (although I wasn't taking it for either of those reasons).

there is absolutely no point in relying on drugs to lose weight. Even if they work, once you stop the drugs, and you WILL stop the drugs, the weight will come back on. If you eat less than you burn you will lose weight. If you buy drugs you'll lose £s not pounds.

Having said that alli and it's prescription version, will help you lose weight faster than you would without it, but only if you are already losing weight and can stand the side effects.

You are absolutely right; however I keep telling myself if I can lose any amount of weight, perhaps this will motivate me. Thanks for responding.

You are absolutely right!! Why is that when we know something we want to disregard it!! Thanks for helping with this one.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan. If that does not work, you may be insulin resistant, so have a look at low carb diets.
