You've made a great decision to get healthier. This forum is great for support and motivation. Download the 12 week plan its a great place to start. If you are new to being active my bet advice would be to take it slow starting out as if you kill yourself on your first workout your less likely to keep it going. Build up your stamina were here if you any advice. Good luck and welcome to the group

Hi raquellora, welcome to the forums. Your message seems a little rushed? Congratulations on taking the first step and deciding to do something about your weight. It takes time - start by working out what your healthy weight is here; nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

This will give you long term target to aim for. Healthy weight loss is about 1 - 2 lbs per week. So it may take some time but it will be worth it!

I got started just by making a note of my calorie intake for a week by writing down everything I ate. Then I worked out what my calorie intake should be to lose weight. Just writing down and keeping track of what you eat can be a very interesting exercise.

Then the easiest way to get started I think is reducing portion sizes, swapping unhealthy snacks for fruit or raw vegetables, and doing some gentle walking in the evenings. I built up very gradually and am now enjoying running.

For me the thing to remember is that this is not a short term diet - it's a long term lifestyle change. It has to be something I can stick to over the years. So it's important that I take it slow, go gradually, and do what i enjoy - otherwise I won't stick to it.

I love children, they just say it as they see it, don't worry about hurting your feelings or using flowery language...God bless them and long may it be so. It sometimes takes a comment like that from your 5 year old to kick start a healthy lifestyle, my 8year old Granddaughter telling me "Nana you've put on weight" was a bit of an eye opener for me so I'm really glad she was so honest. Welcome to this forum and I'm sure you will soon have things back in your control.
