Feeling confused and disappointed

Ok. I have just weighed myself this morning and I am still 72.7kg. I don't get it, I have worked out twice, ate underneath my calorie limit and I am doing all the right things. Why haven't I lost any weight?

I am feeling upset and disappointed. Please help :-( :-(

AV28, I posted a similar message yesterday and was as confused and disappointed as you.

I spent yesterday trying to settle this set back in my own mind, and considering the replies of others I received to my message.

My conclusion is that I probably didn't need to eat the number of calories each day, and that I just can't have the 'treats' if I want to lose weight, even though I stay be,ow my daily target.

Like you I exercised but remained the same weight this week.

I have to accept there will be weeks like this and it may take time to get my intake of calories correct. I'll then re-educate myself in how much I can eat, and what, in order to maintain weight.

I still have plenty of questions, but I hope to learn. Think that I have to accept that bodies are complex, wonderful things and that occasionally things will happen within them that we don't understand.

Hope this helps....sounds good anyway ;)

I know how frustrating this can be - maybe have a look at what you are eating as well as the calories. An increase in fruit/veg within the calorie intake should give you a boost - as they are high fibre/water content they should speed your weight loss for next week. Keep going! Today is a new day...perhaps this week try to keep a list of daily positives (other than food lists!), it is important that you are kind to yourself in this journey.

Workouts do not aid weight loss. See the BBC's recent article on this. Don't let it stop you exercising though as it has loads of other health benefits.

Are you adding your exercise calories burned to your calories? Apparently apps over estimate how many calories you burn so you can end up over eating.

Also I have just been through a couple of weeks where despite eating my calorie allowance I have gone up and down over half a kilo and it is only now that the weight is starting to consistently go down. So maybe your body is just taking its time to catch up.

Whatever the situation is it will start to shift and you are doing your body some good. This should make you happy and you should stop stressing out and be patient.

Best of luck, I'm sure it will start falling off soon

Have to agree alex7ra exercise gets you fitter and healthier and helps you maintain a healthy weight. I am in week 4 c25k and am running 2 miles now 26 mins 13 mins per mile which I'm chuffed with but weight remains the same as haven't addressed eating. Starting NHS plan Monday 😀 keep going av28 it will happen xx and like previous replies be nice to yourself along the way you're awesome for doing something

AV28, you know you are doing your best which you should be proud of yourself for. I'm sure you'll see a weight loss if you leave it till Monday to record your weight again. If you keep that in mind it will keep you going. Please don't let it get you down. Stay positive! :)

Sometimes it takes time for our bodies to show the results, i struggled for about 2 weeks but it finally starting going in the right direction again. Dont give up, Sometimes weighing in daily can make things worse as you get disappointed if you dont see the result you want. You have worked hard so the results will follow. Try not to eat too few calories as this will only slow up your weight loss, as will stress. Keep going and it will follow

I know it can be very disappointing when you have done everything right, exercised, eaten within your allowance of calories but still the scales don't move in the right direction. Be aware this is a dangerous time because that's when you could all too easily think what the heck and start comfort eating, try not to give into the food devil and I'm sure your body will adjust to your new healthy eating regime. Sometimes when you don't lose for a week or so the next week there's a good loss. Keep at it and stay strong. All the best.

I haven't read the other comments but if you've been exercising and not eating your calorie allowance that's the answer you need to keep up your energy to counteract the exercise.

It's soooo frustrating I know , have an extra slice of bread on days when you fall short on calories..that's what I was advised..dont know whether there's anything in that theory but I have lost every week for 6 weeks.. all the best !
