Calorie counting help

I do a lot of cooking at home rather than relying on buying ready made meals. Problem is that I have problems working out the calories. Does anyone else have this problem? And, if so, how do you deal with it?

I use mynetdiary diary app because you can create recipes and save them.

I use myfitnesspal app which you can get on all platforms including destop/laptop PC's for calculating recipes.

Thank you!

I 100% recommend myfitnesspal :) you can select from foods that already have all the nutritional info uploaded and all the calories and if not you can scan the barcode and it uploads it all. You can also get an app called pacer which counts your steps and takes off the calories from myfitnesspal that you burn off :)

That's great. Thank you.

Myfitness pal also has some recipes from cookbooks already saved, hairy bikers/dieters is a good example. So it's always worth typing in the recipe name and the cook to see if it is already there.

Each time you add your recipes in, you say roughly how many portions it makes per batch, and then you can adjust the portion sizes each time you have that meal (e.g put in half a portion if you only have that amount for lunch the next day). Hope this helps and happy cooking!

I use the my fitness pal app, it is a godsend, i can scan the barcodes of my shopping and input it that way its great!

Once you've done it a few times you will start to learn what calories are in what.

All the best

Cook & Count app cookandcount.com is UK based and designed specifically for calorie (nutritional) counting home cooked food. A lot more flexibility, user friendly and accurate than using MyFitnessPal. Hope the diet is going well!
