Just joined and don't really know where to begin. I have about 1.5 to 2 stone to loose. Should I start with healthy eating or exercise or both? I have a knee injury at the minute too

Help!!

hello i am glad you joined us. I personally thing take baby steps you know eat healthier first drink only water and plenty of it cut down carbs and eat only veggies and fruits and lean meat it helps you stay fuller you know 70% is just by eating and 30% is from exercise and maybe you can start doing about 20 to 40 minutes of cardio and weight lifting about 3 times a week is your choice you can do more or less, but the eating is so determinant i mean that makes the biggest difference. wish you the best !

Both! I would begin by incorporating 10 minutes walking into each day and at the same time replace unhealthy snacks with healthier ones, one at a time so you have time to adjust and are more likely to stick to it. If you have time and think you would enjoy it then the health promotion team will be able to tell you about health walks which are a great way into becoming more active which improves weight loss efforts. I went for a time and now walk 7m with the Ramblers every other weekend as well as some shorter walks at times though inbetween I am still sedentary, but at least I am improving my overall fitness and mood. I think losing weight is more difficult. I replaced sugary snacks and crisps with fruit and still graze all evening but feel more energetic and healthier than before though after losing 14lbs last Spring I am not losing more at the moment. I need to lose another 4stone and plan to make veg soups which are lovely and filling. I find dieting easy in the summer, just eat loads of salad and fresh fruit, etc, but in winter find it hard to lose. You should be able to eat a lot and still lose weight as long as what you eat is healthy and low calorie, as I did last year, but right now I can't quite get it right! Soups and stews are lovely and nourishing with just a small piece of crusty bread.

Starting with healthy eating is better than nothing if you can't exercise! You could always try swimming as it's easier on joints & muscles but I'd speak to your GP first.. Good Luck with your first week & welcome xx
