Hi everyone,

Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 4.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 1.8 pounds, so I've lost 2.2 pounds this week. Very pleased! I had gained some weight over half-term, and it's good to have lost that, plus a little bit more.

I managed to go to the gym 3 times last week, which is more than I usually manage - I've only been once in previous weeks. I enjoyed the work-outs and felt better for them. I have had a couple of meals out last week as well, but managed to choose relatively healthy foods both times.

This week I am hoping to lose 2 pounds, so that I can finally be in the 12's by next Monday's weigh-in. I'm going to use Myfitnesspal every day, and try to do regular exercise - and hopefully I'll get to the gym again at least twice this week. I'm also going to pre-plan my meals wherever possible, as that is something that I find really helpful.

Please join me for this weigh-in to share your own experiences. I hope it's been a good week for everyone. If you're new, then you are very welcome to join us - it can really help to share your progress in a supportive community.

Lowcal :-)

Congratulations and well done - it must be great to feel in control- put a bit of weight on and off it comes a week later. Really wishing you luck to enter the 12s- these stone breakthroughs are huge milestones.

As for me - well I had an up and down week trying to get control of my sugar and calorie intake. Mid week awful - but think i was actually ill for 24 hours. My weight mid week was shocking 2 and half pounds on :-(.

However i persevered - watching like a hawk everything that i consumed- and putting in MFP. The result Ta dah-lost 2 .75 pounds (plus Blood pressure down and a wee impact on my BMI).

So pretty happy with that result - sober november going well- I think this is having an impact on calorie intake as well as feeling better and sleeping well- It is delivering results - so i will carry on for the time being. My aim is to be in the 11s next week- 1.25 pounds to achieve that.

I am hopping this week I will be slightly less obsessed - and that it won't be quite so all consuming - hoping to fit in some exercise as well- but not my top priority at the moment.

Good luck everyone :-)

Well done Suzyben. That's a great result. Staying off the alcohol really helps as there are loads of calories hidden in those cheeky glasses of vino.

Thanks Jogler -lets see what the next week brings- just sieved lamb mince to drain off all fat - feel slightly mad- but hopefully it will pay results.

Good luck to you with that below 17 stone milestone:-)

Hi Susybenj,

Thank you for your encouraging words.

I am really pleased to hear your progress this week - it shows the challenge of trying to stick with a healthy plan, but the fact is that with perseverence you have achieved a great loss - 2.75 pounds is amazing. Well done! Great to hear the positive benefits to your health - with the reduced BMI and lower blood pressure.

Good luck with your goal to be in the 11's next week. I know exactly what you mean about how great an achievement it is to move between goal posts. Really hope we both get there this week.

Have a great week.

I'm still sticking at 72.8 kg same as a couple of Mondays ago. I'm fairly happy with that.

Everyone finds their own pattern, what works for them. This takes time and also, the confidence to experiment a bit.

We were out yesterday, tried - unsuccessfully - to see the Poppy display at the Tower of London. We'd had a good breakfast of eggy-onion and toast, then got to one of our favourite pubs, the 'Prospect of Whitby' at Wapping. I'm very pleased that a lot of pubs now have a 'light-bites' or 'smaller appetite' options. I had chicken and bacon salad and slimline tonic with ice and lemon.

There are so many roads/streets in London closed off at the moment, road-works, building works, you name it, and it took us ages to get back on to the road home. We stopped at the Asda at Tilbury where they have their Christmas menu, unbelievably! We needed coffee, and I had a slice of iced Christmas cake. But that was all I had for the rest of the day.

Hi Margrete,

Well done at sticking at 72.8kg. Sorry to hear you didn't get to the Poppy display at the Tower of London. Good that you got to your favourite pub though, and enjoyed your lunch there. Sounded tasty!

Wishing you another positive week ahead, and hope you have a good week.

Well done Lowcal, that's brill. Sounds like you are really incentivised and those gym sessions sound like they are really paying off. I said goodbye to the 17stones and hello to the 16 stones when I weighed in this morning at 16 St 13.5lbs. That's around 4lbs loss since last weigh and just short of losing my first stone.

Well done to everyone this week.

Hi Jogler,

Wow, talking of changing goal posts, you've done just that! Really great to hear you're leaving the 17's behind and you're into the 16's. Brilliant! 4 pounds loss is incredible, and you're close to your first stone - really great!

Thanks for your encouraging words to me - they are much appreciated. I will try hard to achieve my gym attendance this week. It must have done me some good!

Have a great week.

Well done on the weight loss lowcal, and I'm glad you enjoyed the gym sessions, it's always easier to do these things if you enjoy them isn't it. I've managed to lose 1 pound this week which I am really pleased with as I seemed to have lost focus a bit this week. I'm not sure if it is because I've been sticking to 1400 calories for about 6 months now and so was rebelling, or if it was the cold weather but I have had a real craving for stodgy food this week and have given in a bit too often! I have however counted everything and managed to stay under 2000 calories even on the days I went over my allowance. I have also been running for half an hour three times this week, which is probably what helped with the weight loss. Hope everyone else has had a good week, and we all do well next week. My poan is to get my focus back, stick to my calories and I may be at target by Christmas. 6 weeks to lose just under a stone, I hope that may be doable!

Hi Catch,

Thank you so much!

Congratulations to you on losing 1 pound this week - that's really great. Especially as you felt you had lost some focus over the week. Well done for sticking with your plan, and for doing all that running as well - that's bound to be beneficial.

Your goal should be doable, so good luck with maintaining your focus over the next 6 weeks, and you'll be there! Hopefully we can all help one another to keep on track.

Have a great week.

Hi Helbels,

A warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this weigh-in. Great that you're starting your day with a swim - that's great exercise. Hope you enjoy it! Have you seen the NHS weight loss pages? There is a 12 week structured plan there which is really helpful. I use Myfitnesspal to help me to log all my food and drink intake, as well as any exercise I do - it's really useful.

Setting yourself realistic goals each week can also help a lot - something to focus on and work towards.

Best of luck with your first week, and hope to see you at next Monday's weigh-in, with your first week's loss!

Lowcal :-)

My weight has gone up 0.1kg this week. Frustrating not to have lost as I have walked for an hour everyday and have kept my net calories low. That is I had over 1400kcal some days but never over 1500kcal. Anyway I realise now having a monthly doesn't help! Sometimes I put on 3kg at that time. Will keep going and see what the scales say next week.

One encouragement was being able to get into a skirt I haven't worn for years. Also I can nearly get into the dress I wore to my daughters wedding 8 years ago.

Have a good week everybody and well done to all of you who lost weight.

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to

Hi Pog1,

Sounds like you've been quite diligent this week in sticking with your goals, but it's not reflected on the scales. Sorry to hear you've gained slightly. But the positives are that you can wear that skirt you've not worn for ages, and also you can fit into that dress you mentioned - those both suggest your shape is changing. Stick with it, and I'm sure you'll see the results on the scales. You're doing really well!

Have a great week ahead.

Use your monthly as getting something you want but not binging on it....for instance I share half a large pizza with my girlfriend....usually I'd have a full pizza and maybe even a pizza bread too so I got cheat food but also still lost.

Had a Belgian bun and coffee out with hubby!

Hi, just starting to lose weight at 13st 4lbs, my heaviest ever. It will help to record my weight each week here I'm sure. Well done for losing this week, it must feel great. I've steadily gained weight since I hit 50 and now with borderline high BP I'm finally accepting this is affecting my health. Shame it takes something like this to make me deal with it but there you are, onward and upward!! I don't exercise but will start with walking this week.

Good luck with your plans this week.

A warm welcome to you - and thanks for joining us today for this weigh-in. You've made the brave step of weighing yourself, and hopefully you'll be seeing losses on the scales as each week progresses. Then you'll be feeling fitter and healthier - lots of good benefits ahead.

Many thanks for your encouraging words - and I hope we can also encourage you towards your goals. Great to hear you're planning on starting some walking this week - I hope you enjoy it. Have you seen the NHS weight loss pages and the 12 week structured plan? It is very helpful in providing a supportive structure and lots of good tips and advice.

Hi all :) Lowcal, well done! Its great that you're feeling in control of your weight loss. I've stayed the same this week but as last week included bonfire night (pie, peas, parkin etc) and my birthday (toblerone and wine) I'm not too bothered. Biggest worry is that I went for my well woman check (made me feel old!) last Tues and my blood pressure was high so going back this morning for a 24hr monitor fitting :/ It's a good job I wasn't wearing it last night when a very stupid woman - who hadn't demisted her windscreen, almost ran me and my dog over ON the pavement!!! My heart almost burst at that point - perhaps exercise is not always good for you:|

Hope you all have a great weight loss week :)

Hi Kate,

Thanks very much! Well done to you for managing to maintain your weight, despite the Bonfire night celebrations and your Birthday. Happy Birthday to you! Toblerone and wine sounds lie a tasty combination!

Sorry to hear your blood pressure was high, and it sounds like you had quite a stressful time last night - glad to hear you are safe and sound after that near miss with the thoughtless woman. That was negligent of her, and seriously dangerous.

Hope your 24 hour monitor fitting is ok - and wishing you a positive week ahead.

Congrats keep up the great work. We have all been doing this for a while now and the last 9 days iv really realised that wow it's actually starting to work lol

Last week I was 36 inch waist 12stone 9 I'm now 35 1/2 inch waist 12 : 6 so iv lost 3lbs last week.

Starting weight 13:9 current weight 12:6

Seems like a lot of loss last week but I did play 3 badminton matches 4 training sessions and a football tournament for charity which I reached the semi finals in and in total player 50 minutes of 6v6. Defo worked hard for my loss.

This week I'm training mon tues fri and have been asked to play for my uni 2nd team again on wed, match on Thursday, social badminton Friday training Sunday....the best part of all this.....

I think I maybe getting a girlfriend out of it ;) currently just seeing each other but will see each other again on Saturday.....must be the weight loss working ;) but I'm using her for even more motivation and I was another stone lost now.

Current goals are now to get back to my 34inch waist by Xmas I want 11:6 as a weight but by December I'm aiming for 12 stone...which is hard because I have 3 Xmas meals to attend for all my societies.

Kept up the great work everyone :)

Hi Lowcal, and everyone

Last week I was 14st 12lbs and this week I am the same. I have kept to my 1200 calories all week but I do eat some of my exercise calories. The only exercising I have done is my walk home from work which is 4 miles, I got 15 minutes 30 day shred then gave up and got 8.6 miles through my Sunday 10 mile walk before I gave up. I have had no energy all week and a very frustrating chocolate craving which I have not been able to ignore.

This week I will continue to walk home from work, I will make an effort to complete at least one go of level 1 30 day shred and hope I get some energy. I've made a big pan of broth which is very low calorie and very filling so if I do cave in for chocolate i'll have the calorie allowance for it. I really want to lose 2lbs as that will take me to 50lbs total weight loss.

Congrats everyone who has lost weight, hoping this week will be a good one.

Lowcal sure you're going to get into the 12s next week :)

Kate

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to katedaniels

Hi Kate,

It must have been very tough to contend with the week whilst having a constant craving for chocolate - I think you've done well to maintain your weight in that circumstance, so well done for that! You've close to getting to your 50 pound total weight loss goal, and I m sure you can do it. You sound determined to achieve your goals this week, and I'm confident you will get there, so keep going.

Thanks for your positivity with regard to assuring me I'll get to the 12's by next week - I really hope I do that. I am certainly going to give it my best shot.

I'm going to try to find my copy of the 30 day shred DVD - I mislaid it some time ago and to be honest I've never actually tried it - so I'd love to give it a go.

Wishing you a good week ahead.

Hi Lowcal, really thrilled to see your results this week after your slight setback at half-term, great effort! And you sound like you have a good plan going forward and that you are beginning to enjoy your gym workouts more, all of which will help you make further progress.

I only lost 0.5kg/1 pound this week, not nearly as much as last week, but it was a crazy week work-wise and so I felt the need to let my hair down a bit at the weekend. My challenge now is that work will now remain crazy for some time to come, so I can't do that every weekend if I am going to progress with my weight loss. Going to aim to be uber good this weekend. I am planning to do my first Parkrun on Saturday morning so I can't afford to drink much if anything on the Friday night, so I think that factor should really help.

Hope everyone has a good week! xxx

Hope you can cope with the craziness of work for the next few weeks - and continue to make good progress with your weight loss goals. Also, hope your first Parkrun goes really well on Saturday - that's inspiring!

Hi All

Well done to those losers and those ( me included ) who managed to stay the same. I had a second week of the cold and then a weekend away which meant a loss was quite a long shot really so I'm actually pretty pleased not to have gained. Hopefully I'll be able to head in the right direction this week.

Thanks for your encouragement regarding the gym. I hope I can do it again this week.

Have a great week ahead, and I hope your cold leaves you alone, so you feel better soon.

Lowcal :-)

Well done Lowcal on a great result this week! :) Bet you are thrilled with that, and rightly so!

I lost 1lb this week, so I'm down to 15st12lbs, and 5lbs in 2 weeks, which I'm pretty chuffed with. I thought this week was going to be hard as I had a bad start the first day or two and didn't track! Then my brother came to visit us, and, although we did a lot of walking, we ate out for lunch and dinner 3 days in a row! Eek! However, I still tracked these days and even though I went over my 1400kcals, I didn't go beyond 2000. I think this is mostly due to the fact I didn't snack on these 3 days, just had a coffee or espresso in between, and I think that has made difference.

So back to the healthy meals at home this week, and hoping to drop another 2lb and get back into the exercise again, as I slacked on that also this week.

Well done for the good results this week everyone, hope you all have a good one this week!

Wishing you another good week ahead, and much success with your goal to lose another 2 pounds.

I am thinking of not weighing myself this week as when I weighed myself last Wednesday I found that I had put the weight back on that I had lost over the two previous weeks, Stress is the problem mostly as I tend to comfort eat, It though me last week after seeing my doctor. I am counting my calories and writing everything down and trying to keep positive.

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to elaineanne1

Hi Elaineanne,

Of course, the choice to weigh or not is a personal thing, and I completely respect your decision not to weigh this week - sorry to hear you gained the weight you had lost in previous weeks last Wednesday, but stress can be very powerful and comfort eating is definitely a challenge.

The good thing is that you've not actually gained overall - you lost some weight, and you regained it - overall therefore you've maintained your weight, and that's much better than gaining it overall. I hope that makes sense.

The fact that you're writing down what you eat and drink, and you're counting your calories means you are in control, and you mention that you're trying to keep positive. That's great. I really hope you have a better week this week - and hopefully you'll begin to lose weight again.

Wishing you a positive week, and hope it goes well.

Really glad you still came here to talk about how it's going. Keep going, and you'll get there.

Hi Lowcal & all

Following a birthday this week and great advice/support here I have still managed to lose weight. Quite a few excesses (er-hmm) this week but walked and walked and walked to try and balance things out. SO....

Last week 12st 12lb....today 12st 10.5lb - whoopee! Well done to everyone else too for losing/maintaining/getting into smaller clothes/keeping going when it gets tough.

Lowcal, well done for getting into the gym and for your loss - back in the game. It can be hard to get 'back in the saddle' after a gain but you did it! Big congrats...looking forward to seeing you in the 12s next week Mrs meal planner. I'm going to try and be Mrs Eat lots of Soup this week. Glad you managed to cope with half-term's trickyness - maybe that's why they mention 'trick or treat' - it tricks us and we tend to 'treat ourselves' - but often we overeat rather than choose other kinds of treats... At least you've managed not to put too much on, and you're getting closer to the 12's - hopefully we'll both get there before the Christmas madness - that's definitely a challenging time too, but I'm sure with perseverence and a bit of common sense we can get through it.

Have a great week.

Lowcal that's great news! Well done you. Just shows us all what can be done with planning and focus.

I'm away from home at the moment and was doing OK till yesterday when I gave in to choc mousse, out of boredom really I think. Didn't enjoy it anyway cos it was a rubbish mousse!!! That led to other things, but boy did I sleep well . . . . . . lol. So, as I'm in the sun I'll hit the pool later and pay the price. No scales here so no weigh in 'til next weekend. Might have to face the music (full orchestra!) then!

Hi Gilly,

Thanks very much.

Sounds like you're enjoying some lovely sunshine, and hope you enjoy your dip in the pool later. Hope you're enjoying your break.

Pity you chocolate mousse wasn't a good one - you'd have enjoyed it far more if it had been really nice. You noticed the trigger was boredom, so try to make sure you don't allow yourself to get too bored over the following days, and that way you can thoroughly enjoy your break, but not turn to things that might scupper your weight loss goals.

Look forward to catching up with you at the next weigh-in, and wishing you a good week.

hello everyone! Been a while since I've posted on here which reflects whats happening with my weight loss goal. I've fallen off the wagon on several occasions and stopped using my Fitness pal and when I stepped onto the scales, it showed :(

I think, perhaps with a lot of people out there, its the partly the weather and partly the time of year starting to kick in - craving comforting food and starting on the mulled wine/festive cocktails around Halloween/Guy Fawkes...and to top it off the red cups are back in starbucks!

On the upside, I was starting to see the results when I was trying on some of my old clothes and FINALLY fitting into them, and I think this has led me to sneak in the odd chocolate or something equally naughty, and now I'm paying for it. I have rubbish will power so this diet has been a real test of that. I was finding it quite straight forward to follow during the summer but now we're into the colder season, I'm finding it hard!

So, with that in mind, I need a kick up the bum to get back on track, so I've opened up my app this morn and I intend on keeping track as I was from today onwards!!! NO MORE SNEAKY TREATS!

See you all next week x

Hi Rollingsheep,

Welcome back! Glad you joined us again, and really hope you are successful in your goal to have 'no more sneaky treats' - I think it's an incredibly challenging time of year with regard to there being lots of temptations out there, and the colder weather definitely makes the urge to comfort eat quite strong.

In previous years, I've noticed that I've tended to lose weight over the Summer and put some back on in the Winter months, but I am finding that the support on this thread is really motivating and it's enabled me to finally feel that I can change that pattern this year, and so I'm feeling more positive about having a potential losing streak for Winter.

I hope you have a good week. Best of luck with all your goals, and getting back on track.

Hi - sorry for being a day late - did weigh in but didn't have a chance to post yesterday. Well done on your loss you must be really pleased - those 12's getting tantalisingly closer - and 3 sessions at the gym woohoo! I was pleased to get a loss this week from 12st 3lbs to 12st 0.6lbs which is great but soooo frustrating!

Reading through all the posts there were lots of good losses - maybe the ever looming Christmas parties and therefore party frocks are getting us all a little worried!

My aim is to get into the 11's next week so I am running twice this week and gyming hopefully 4 times - will let you know how I get on.

Best wishes to you all

Jan

Hi Jan,

Congratulations to you for losing 2.4 pounds this week - that is phenomenal. Really well done! You're very close to the milestone of going below the 12's. Maybe next week we'll both be crossing a milestone - let's hope so! There are a few of us that are on the cusp of a change in number...!

Wow, you have great plans for your exercise this week - going to the gym 4 times, and running as well - hope you enjoy those sessions and reap the benefits.

Have a great week. Thanks also for your encouraging words - much appreciated!

Best wishes
