Beginner, but need motivation...

Hello everyone....

I have been wanting to have a healthier lifestyle since leaving uni... It started off well, joined a gym and went nearly 4/5 times a week. However personal issues have made me lose all motivation to do anything....

My overall goal is to be generally healthier, and lose some weight (mainly belly fat) I need to reduce my BMI as I never realised it was 27.1 :( I want to aim to lose 2lbs a week.

I thought this would help me work more as it gives me targets to work towards... I was wondering if anyone had any extra advice that would help me.....

Thanks in advance :)

Plan your day into five sections, 3 meals, 2 snacks, work out your calorie requirements for the days/week.

Another tip of mine is to see it like a bank account, always try to be in credit, never overdrawn................, the theory being spreading the cals, over the week , days, and not exceeding your ration. I know some do 5.2 which seems to have some benefits, not for me tho.

Accept there are bad meals and days, move on from those, they happen, distract yourself and relax, it's not hard to do this journey.

Brilliant, I will try this.. I always seem to eat fine throughout the day but dinner always seems to be quite bad.. calorie counting does scare me though as I never realise how many calories are in so little... but ill have to make myself count! :) x

Everyone without exception has things in their life which make them sad, worried, unhappy. Even the people you see who appear to be having a brilliantly-successful time of it, money, looks, you name it. The trick is not to let these issues damage the life you have for yourself. We only have one life! Don't waste it. Today is the start of the rest of your life. Eating rubbish, snacking etc will not make those issues go away. People say they eat for comfort, when they're unhappy or sometimes even when they're happy! But all that comfort eating does not alter the basic problem, why they're unhappy in the first place.

Targets are great and 2lbs per week is a good one to aim towards - but it might help to have more specific long term goals. Eg to loose x amount by a certain date, rather than just to be more healthy which is quite general. Good luck! :)
