Good morning!

Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 9.8 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 11.2 pounds, so I've gained 1.4 pounds this week. I am disappointed to have gained, as I had been trying to lose weight... but I am not surprised to have gained as I have been tempted by a few extra treats here and there that I usually manage to avoid. Also, I had quite a heavy lunch a couple of days ago.

Anyway, I must get 'back on track' and try to lose some weight this week, so I will make a concerted effort to eat healthily and do some regular exercise as well. I will aim to lose 2 pounds this week.

I hope you have all had a good week, and I hope you'll join me at today's weigh-in to share your own experiences regarding how the week has gone. Good luck with your goals.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Lowcal,

Sorry that this week wasnt the best for weightloss. Next week will be better! Thanks for hosting the Monday weigh in and not giving up and always being on here. Last week I was on holiday, but I walked loads and did not go over my calorie allowance. I lost 2 pounds. This week we are moving house...I will need all my mental power to stay on track during this time! I hope you have a good week! Good Luck!

Hi Yoyo-nono,

Thanks for your encouragement - much appreciated! Very well done to you for losing weight (2 pounds is great) despite being on holiday. That's incredible!

I hope your house move goes well.

Wishing you another great week ahead.

Good morning, well it's a 3lb loss for me this week which was an amazing milestone as have now lost two stones and just coming into week 10. I knew I was going to make it so my husband bought me the new camera I wanted and a couple of pair of trousers that actually fit me, not one but two dress sizes smaller. Exercise has been above my goals five days this week. To anyone out there who needs encouragement, this feeling is so good and I feel so spritely!!! I still have a long road to travel but with all the support here I know I can make it. My next goal is to now drop into the next stone down into the 15's as started out in the 18's! Well done everyone.

Hi Candystripe,

Congratulations on your 3 pound weight loss - and achieving your 2 stone loss. That's brilliant news. Wow, 2 dress sizes smaller. That is amazing. Enjoy wearing your new clothes and using your new camera (hopefully to take some nice photos of your new slimmer shape!)

Great to hear you are feeling 'spritely' - best of luck with your new goal. Enjoy your week and hope you have another good one.

Good morning LowCal and Everyone,

Sorry about your gain this week LowCal - you must feel like I did last week, a determination to do better! Well, it certainly pays off. Today I weigh 10st 10lb 2oz which means a loss of 3 lb. I am so delighted to be back on track and will try to make sure I don't slide back again. Best of luck with your plans foe the week :-)

Hi Autumn-Witch,

Yes, I do have that feeling of determination to do better this week, so I hope I can put those feelings into the required action... :-)

Congratulations on your weight loss. You're doing really well. You sound like you're back on track and enjoying your week. Hope you have another great week ahead.

Morning all, keep going Lowcal you can do it, Candystripe well done, enjoy that camera! Yoyo moving I find extremely stressful so good luck and keep up the good work. Well done Autumn witch you are on a roll!

About me can't remember if I set a weight goal, but maintained 10 11 which is fine, I know I had a raft of other goals, managed all but one of my exercise classes ( and that was due to a last minute social) so 9.5 hours of classes. Ran 10k, alcohol still a problem but I did cut down a bit. Also bought stay slim incentive, a beautifully fitted size 10 dress from the sale in monsoon, for an event next year.

This week another maintenance week for me I think, I am helping out at a beer festival 2 nights so losing 2 classes, I don't like beer too much so extra calories shouldn't be too much of a problem, they are however ordering in pizza for volunteers :( but I also have a 5 mile race, would like to do that in 45mins, then a weekend at friends, will try and reign in the alcohol and snack count, have a good week and let's hope we are losers!

Hi Prin,

Well done with your sustained progress, and accomplishing your goals. 9.5 hours of classes is amazing. Great that you've bought a lovely new dress as a stay slim incentive.

Sounds like you've got a busy week ahead, and hope you cope ok with the pizza - I really like pizza myself, and usually have some once a week.

Have a great week.

Hi Prin, love the sound of the size 10 stay-slim incentive - it sounds perfect for showing off the new figure. Please tell me you are taller than 5ft 3 in!! We are about the same weight but I'm still a 14 so perhaps the height is making the difference? :-)

Enjoy the beer festival and the race.

Yes I am a little taller at 5ft 6 1/2 169cms according to healthy BMI my highest weight allowed is 11st 4lbs my lowest weight is 8st 4lbs! I feel I would look emaciated at that :) my chest is a 34 c\d and I think that is quite small enough!

Morning all!

Good to see everyone has had a good week! Congrats losers! :P Sorry about the gain Lowcal but I'm sure you will do well this week! :)

I haven't been here for a while due to some family issues but have been trying to stay on top of the weight loss amongst it all.

Can't remember what I weighed last time I was here but weighed 12st 10lbs last week and have dropped to 12st 7lbs as of this morning! This 3lb drop has cheered me up immensely and has spurred me on for another great week! Will try my best! :D

Only 2st 7lbs to go until I reach my goal! The way things are going I'm feeling pretty positive!

Hope everyone continues to have a good week! :)

Sorry to hear about your gain lowcal, good luck getting back on track this week. I've had a good week this time, losing 3lb taking my total loss to 1 and a half stone. Even better this means I have lost 10% of my starting weight! Still need to get more exercise as I didn't really do any this week, just a bit of wii fit, so that is my main goal this coming week.

Hi Catch,

Hi all - last week I'd gained 4lbs, but this week it's come off again, so I'm happy. I looked at myself in the mirror last night and decided that I'll try to lose 4lbs more and then definitely stop: I like to have a bit of shape. So my new goal is 9st 4lbs. This week I plan to run 26-28 miles in total (half marathon training) and eat a sensible diet that supports that amount of exercise. Well done to all for your efforts - keep it up!

Hi Lowcal,

I'm sorry about your gain, don't lose hope, next week will be better :)

I have once again weighed in at 16st 8lbs, third week in a row. Again the heat has stopped me from doing as much as I would have liked, yesterday I walked 6 mile and it was the only decent walk I got in. I haven't been on my bike at all and even the wii hasn't held much appeal. I'm happy I haven't gained and i'm sure once the weather cools down I'll be back out and about as I am missing being out.

Congrats to everyone who has lost, I hope next week is a loss for us all :)

Kate

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to katedaniels

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your encouraging words. I hope this week will be better!

Well done for doing that 6 mile walk yesterday. That's an achievement with this heat - it does make exercise harder I think. Great that you've not gained any weight over the past three weeks. Have you tried going out in the evening? The weather is better in terms of being less hot, and the strength of the sun is much more tolerable.

Wishing you a great week ahead.

Lowcal :-)

Hi both, yes the sun is a pig right now. I find it best to exercise before 9am or after 8pm. I've also discovered a tree-lined walking and running route which is blissfully shadey.

6miles is certainly something to be proud of!

katedaniels profile image
katedaniels in reply to burntsun

If I could stand getting up earlier I would love to do the C25K before my shower, and there would be less people to see my jibbly bits :) I'm just not a morning person, getting out of bed is such an effort that takes all my will power. I'm hoping that as I lose more weight that that might change. I do have a 'yay me' moment when I go on map my walk and i've went over 6 miles :) Fortunately it's cooling down at the minute so i've been out for my morning break, my lunch break and have been walking home. I'm only really walking home because there is a bus on my route with the heating stuck on, but i'll take incentive where I can find it :) I hope we all have a successful weight in on Monday.

Hi Lowcal,

Apologies for being so late to reply. I think the heat makes everything harder, except for eating icecream ;) I don't live in a particularly nice area so don't feel comfortable going out in the evenings, however, I have started doing a bit more in the evenings, just indoors with the fan on :)

Hopefully this Monday we'll both have a more successful weigh in.

Good luck,

I'm please to say I have lost 2 pounds this week and am now 11stone 0.75 pounds... Which is weird because I have loads of bad treats this week and didn't do hardly any exercise but I'm happy :)

This weeks goal is to complete week 2 of the c25k, lose 2 lbs taking me below 10 stone and to not give in to the sweets in the cupboard at work! Although I already have but I deducted it from my 1400 calories and am going gym today to burn off a good 500 calories on the cross trainer at level 25!

Hi Lowcal and everyone. My goal this week was 1lb - but I stayed the same. So total still at 8lb for 4 weeks so not bad. I had one event but I didn't think I'd blown it. I guess some weeks are just like that. I'm encouraged though because some of the clothes I couldn't get into recently now fit (my target jeans are still way too tight!) so I was very pleased. My scales also show a lower % of fat so that is good as well. Local, maybe your body is just catching up from holiday? Anyway everyone, best wishes for the week ahead!

Zest profile image

Hi Jlmitch,

Losing 8 pounds in 4 weeks is really great. Great that you have noticed the change in the fit of your clothes as well - really good. Your scales are good in that they allow you to see the percentage of fat - great that it is lessening as well.

Yes, you could be right about my body catching up after my holiday. Hopefully I'll begin to lose again soon.

Have a great week.

Hi Everyone, well done to the losers & keep going to the others! I've lost another pound, so down to 13 stone 4lb, but also another 1/2 inch off my waist - my ultimate goal is to be below the 32 " danger measurement for diabetes, which runs in my family. My short-term goal is to move from an obese BMI to an 'overweight' one - which is now only 4 lbs away!

Morning. I weighed in today too, and my story is that I've been rewarded with loss! One more pound off and that'll be my first stone, so I'm motivated. HOWEVER, I still can't go down a jeans size. In fact the only change I've noticed is that the fluid that drops to my ankles in this hot weather seems to have nearly gone. Don't get me wrong, this is good and very welcome, but is the 13lb loss just water???? I've had the excess fluid for a number of years having had a new hip and knee (opposite legs just to make life interesting!) Anyone else experiencing this??? Water loss not fat. . . . LOL. Anyway, hope you get "back on track" as you say this week and good luck with that. I'll be staying focused and aiming for my first stone. See you there!

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to gilly57

Hi Gilly57,

A warm welcome to you. Really great to hear you've had a loss - and fantastic that you're so close to losing your first stone. Hopefully you'll lose another pound to achieve that for next week, all being well. I have no idea how much the loss is likely to be due to water or fat, but I would imagine it is likely to be a combination of both. Glad that you're feeling better and have noticed an improvement regarding your ankle fluid.

Wishing you another great week.

Lowcal :-)

It may be you are like me. I have lost 1.5 stone and am only now thinking about trying some smaller size clothes on. I am fairly sure I have been kidding myself about my dress size for some time as I noticed my current size 18 clothes started fitting alot better and I got back into some I had not worn for a while. Just have a look at your current wardrobe, you may find things are fitting alot better and looking better.

14 stone 10 the same as last time. At least I haven't gained any. Was really hoping I could get down to 14 stone 2 by the end of August.

Hi Ruth,

Good luck with your sister-in-law's Birthday party. A fruit salad might be a healthy dessert - one with some kiwi fruit, strawberries, melon and mango maybe? Or maybe just bring along some pieces of fruit - bananas, grapes, strawberries. I think there may be other people at the party who would appreciate a healthier dessert option too.

Hope you have a lovely time in anycase.

At least with fruit salad people can add things to it - e.g. a bit of cream or ice-cream if they fancy jazzing it up, or they can just have it plain. Either way it is delicious and also very Summery. :-)

I'm also new today. Just thought I'd say Hi.

I really understand the difficulty with stopping the junk. (It's crisps with me) Sooo hard but I'm just trying my hardest to stick to healthy food and tell myself that I'm being good to myself by eating good food.

All the best with it and here's to a happy monday.

Ruth

Oops, few days late posting. Weighed in on Monday with another 2lb loss. I also used the last of the 12 vouchers 'prescribed' by my GP for Weightwatchers. However, Weightwatchers have given me another 10 free vouchers because I lost over 5% of my body weight (in the last few weeks I have actually gone through the 10% mark).

Already friends and family are urging me to not lose much more which is an absolute pain. I pointed out to my sister that I am actually still clinically obese and she told me she didnt believe me!

My doctor gave me a target of 11stone (which is half a stone overweight for my height) and I wont stop till I get there (2 stone to go). Does anyone have any strategies or quick (but not rude) answers I can give to 'diet saboteurs'.

Good luck eveyone this week

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to

Hi Bigmumma,

Congratulations on your weight loss - another 2 pounds lost is fantastic. Also, brilliant to hear you've been rewarded extra vouchers for Weightwatchers as a result of your success. Losing 10% of your body weight is significant. Really great.

Thinking about your friends and family's reaction to your weight loss, and the fact that they are trying to encourage you not to lose any more weight, I would say that you could consider just trying to remain 'calm' when they say such things, and just tell them that your doctor has given you a 'healthy target' and that you are feeling so much better as you lose your extra weight, and that you want to achieve your healthy target. Tell them you want to complete your goals, and that it's important to you.

If you emphasise the positives of having lost weight, and keep as positive as you can, when faced with their 'negatives' then hopefully you'll help to begin to shift their more fixed ideas about weight and shape.

Are there any more supportive friends that you could perhaps spend a bit more time with? Maybe spend less time with the less supportive ones, if they are dragging you down. Or just say to them that you can do without their negativity, and that you'd like them to be more supportive.

Hope you have another great week. You're on your way towards your target weight, and you can get there! Keep going. You're doing really well.

Lowcal :-)

Thanks Lowcal, thats a good suggestion and I will give it a go, but it also made me laugh. My mother is always complaining that I spend more time with my mother-in-law than I do with her.

I go to the gym and swim twice a week with my mother-in-law and she and most of my in-laws familly are very supportive. My own family are the ones being unsupportive and negative (my hubby and kids are very supportive - except for the choccie my daughter constantly leaves in the fridge).

I think I will just stop talking about my weight-loss journey with my family and use your advice if ever they bring it up. Thanks again x
