There was a similar scam reported on the BBC watchdog programme tonight. Use the i-player to catch it, but I believe the banks involved refunded the payments people had taken. By the way, slimming pills don't work!

No they don't do they? Just preying on the vulnerable

It's a Continuous Payment Authority hidden in the small print so you don't realise your agreeing to it. By law they have to respect your request to cancel. So does the bank and it will cancel if you instruct them. Probably the best bet. You should not need a new card, but I'd be prepared to close the account and open a new one if necessary.

I saw the watchdog program. It was informative and this scam is not confined to so called diet products

Oh, yes the email would bounce back. They change websites and addresses every few weeks as a way of avoiding customers

Hi I got caught out in a similar situation, in the small writing there should be a phone number ring it and cancel - expensive phone number but worth it in the long run - take care X

This subject was on Watchdog last night. They suggested contacting your bank to cancel all future payments. Apparently you may have signed up to a CPA continual payment advice. The banks should cancel the payments if you insist.

I thought it ws just a free months trial too, until they took a chunk of money out of my bank. I got in touch with the bank and stopped the DD. I was nearl £100 shorter but wiser. They should be outlawed.
