Hi I'm new to this site but need some advice I'm 29 5'5" and weight 12st 7 my BMI says I'm obese at the moment I am calorie counting and have been for over a a month only allowing myself 1200-1400 calories a day I record every bit of food I eat and drink yet I'm still overweight. I told my gp I had put 3 stone on since the birth of my daughter 3 yrs ago and was told it's my antidepressants I've since stopped taking them (by myself) and yet I'm still overweight. I went to a doctor online (pharmacyonlineuk) and was told I could be prescribe xenical the one u can't buy over the counter yet would have to pay for the private prescription I'm desperate to lose weight and go gym 2 times a week work out at home n do water aerobics for an hour once a week. You do need to speak to your own doctor before starting taking something like this. Your own GP could prescribe it if he thought it was suitable.

It really is a last resort, as it's effects on the body can be pretty unpleasant (diarrhea) and it is not suitable for everyone.

Perhaps have a look at other ways of losing weight, like the 5:2 diet? My daughter lost her weight by going to Weight Watchers, so she had support. I have to make sure that I do not eat food with sugar added, or too much starchy food.

This is the information that helped me, but it is not the conventional way of losing weight!

I'm sure other people will have useful information and advice for you. Good luck.

I found Xenical to work very well. True it did have side effects, but that was a good motivator to make healthier food choices. When I was food wise, I didn't have any problems.

I live in the U.S. and was very happy with

highrepute.net/go/Xenical

Their customer service was fantastic, price was awesome and I received my order within a few days.

I lost 10 pounds in 1.5 months walking 10,000 steps per day and eating healthy. I did get the headaches associated with the side effects, but they weren't as bad as my normal sinusitis headaches, so it was do-able. I would recommend this to anyone in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise. Exercise is a must, because this does not speed your metabolism up. Have faith, stay strong and you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to.

Please please please don't take any medication!!!you are doing incredibly well with what you have described!!!remembered you are already eating 600 cals less then recommend allowance and you are doing some activities as well which require energy!!!all of the supplement promise some miracles and you will put your body through hell...diarrhea and messed up hormones will be a result. ..by doing what you do now you will lose it slowly but you will maintain it too!!!nothing that is made in pharmaceutical labs can be good for you yet so many people get tricked into these miracle solutions that make things worse!!!my advice is to be patient with what you fo now and expect slow but sure results!!!also remember its not so mich just calories its also sugar salt and fat content of foods!!!all the best with your journey!!!:-)

You don't need to take any medication, as the others have said. I lost three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet and my daughter, once she finished breastfeeding in October, started the 5:2 Diet and is losing half a stone a month - she's thrilled to think she'll be in skinny jeans by the summer - she'd gone up to 13 stone and she's your height. Please watch this video which kick-started 5:2 off and is a brilliant watch. It's a BBC Horizon programme called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" vimeo.com/54089463 and it changed my life. I'd previously tried WeightWatchers, Rosemary Conley, all sorts of diets, and as soon as I stopped dieting I put it all back on again, and more. I'd lost the three stone I needed to by last April and now maintain my size 10 by fasting (500 calories) just one day a week. I'm 5'8", aged 64, and now weigh 9 stone 4 pounds.

Personally , I would not recommend taking meds for weight loss unless absolutely necessary . I ended up on the cardiac ward after taking prescribed weight loss tabs .

An online 'doctor' doesn't know your medical history so cannot just tell you to take some sort of medication. How would you know it was a doctor and not just some sales person looking to make a quick buck?

These 'slimming pills' are not the answer, they are usually just very strong laxatives - they are more likely to make you ill and even if you lost weight as soon as you stop taking them you'll put it back.

5:2 is an excellent way to lose weight and very easy to do once you get into it. I have lost 50lbs that way. As gingernut says, have a look at vimeo.com/54089463

Speak to your own GP before taking ANY medication. Although you are eating fewer calories it could be that what you are eating contains too much salt causing fluid retention or any number of things. Not all low calorie foods are good foods.

stay the course, you are in the right frame of mind, on the right road. be patient and believe in yourself. stay off any pills. there is no magic pill out there. personally I recommend 5;2 diet because I don't have to worry about counting calories 5 days a week, and it works for me and my husband. we both are regularly losing a pound a week. and I don't even stick to 500 cals. we both take 600 clas two days a week. kate harrison book is just brilliant. her recipes are all good. I tried a lot and not one of them was 'yech!'. we too tried weighwatchers, slimming world, Gi diet, GL diet and, extremely, the cambridge diet, lastly the 12 week NHS plan. they all too bothersome for me and because it has to be every day. 2 days a week?I can hack it for the rest of my life if necessary. good luck.

Hi, I tried it. Can be very unpleasant and embarrassing - wet farts if you go over the recommended levels of food. Need to be strict with it, my GP let me try it, I had to have my blood pressure checked very regularly

Hi Lilem84,

I pretty much agree with the others. If I were going to take prescription only medicine for any reason, I'd want to make sure I was being prescribed it by someone I knew and who knew my medical history.

I certainly wouldn't want to deal with someone 'online' about such things. I'd much rather deal face to face with someone if possible. (O.K. if I was unconscious on a trolley in A & E .... but normally speaking)

I'd also really discourage anyone from taking themselves off of anti-depressants other than with the advice of their medical practitioner, be that GP or psychiatrist. It would be preferable, in my opinion, to discuss what alternative anti-depressants might be available to you that would be better suited to match your weight loss efforts and the changes you seek to make in terms of your body weight.

Also, don't be in a hurry to lose weight quickly. Take your time. Losing an average of 1 to 2 lbs a week is just a fine rate. It gives your body a chance to adapt to the weight changes, and you a chance to get into better eating habits.

Sadly, often people who lose weight quickly just put it back on again soon after. And excessively quick weight loss can be quite dangerous.

I was offered Orlistat by my doctor, but I said NO. I want to do this myself, he had said it was a good diet starter, but I am filled with tablets for other things I don't want to be filled with useless meds as well. Well that is my feeling. M.

I would speak to your doctor first . Im on anti depressants at the moment but I asked doctor for ones that give me more energy and they started to work right away. There may be an underlying problem like eg thyroid . Good luck

Your Dr will only give them if your BMI is over 30. I used them and have gone from a 24 to a 12 in a year and shifted 8 stone they do work.
