I'm really sorry for posting this but I haven't really found out any answers. I took my blood sugars this morning and after just a cup of coffee they were 8.6 is this right? P.s since watching what I'm eating I've lost 10lb :)

Perhaps check with the diabetic nurse?

You are too high and should watch your sugar intake. You will go higher during the day if you have no medication. If you average 7 over a period you should be OK.

If you checked your sugar early in the morning, it could be the residual "Dawn Effect" sugar rise - nothing to worry about. Before you wake up in the morning, your body releases sugar to prepare the body for coming out of the relaxed sleep state, where your metabolism has slowed down, to get it ready for moving, getting up, doing the stuff you need to do every morning.

as you are diabetic you should know that milk is loaded with carbs and so if you didn't put sugar in your cuppa then it was probably the milk what done it ;-)
