The NHS Weight Loss Programme

Are you looking for a diet to deal with acid reflux or to lose weight as well?

I would agree with GoogleMe about the NHS programme but just plan your meals around the type of ordinary food that reduces the acid problem. The other important thing is to eat little & often, so maybe 6 small meals a day rather than 3 larger ones.

I have recently been diagnosed with 'acid reflux. G. O. R. D. and a wheat intolerance. This is what I'm now doing:

.No more dieting or meal plans.

.No bread - bought bread maker from Ebay and make gluten free Bread (I've had fun getting that almost right)

.No tomatoes

.no corn

.no coffee

.only rice crispies or oats porrage

.No chicken

.small meal at 11, 1, 3, 7

.Chew my food well

.Don't stress about diet or loosing weight

.Yoga once a week

.walk up and down the stairs - at the moment 4 times.

My reference for my decisions was with HealthUnlocked, NHS, blood diet and asking numerous questions. I have found it very difficult. I was set in my ways and love coffee. But, I feel better. Notice I didn't say much better. That is because I'm still investigating. I also take omeprazole and galvascon.

I know I might have bitten off more than I can chew, but it's not about loosing weight any more, but feeling better and less bloated. The Blood diet was a first for me, but it really made sense. I'm not very self motivated but we just don't buy the things I'm not eating.

Good luck Tess

Good luck with the gluten free bread! I've made a few "bricks" in my time.

Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? I cannot eat grapefruit because I am allergic to it. It's more common to have too little acid in the stomach

than too much.

Having some probiotics may help sort out your stomach. Some people find that apple cider vinegar also helps.

My husband had a duodenal ulcer 2 years ago and recently diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. Unfortunately he will not give up coffee and even though I try to give him bland food in small portions, he goes out and has a curry or similar spicy food and suffers from it! His doctor also advised him to eat no later than 3 hours before bedtime, to sleep with his head/chest slightly raised and during the day to sit upright. He is 5'10" and weighs 10st 12lbs - 11st 4lbs so is not overweight because quite often problems are caused by too tight a waistband

Hi there, this is an interesting post for me as only today my partner had an endoscopy as he is producing too much acid and has had to start taking omaprozale to combat this,my aunty has been taking these for 10 years and said they are a miracle tablet, the one thing the consultant said to David was anything acidic such as pure orange is a bad idea and should be avoided,I think fibre is a good thing and whole wheat versions of different things such as pasta, anything creamy doesn't agree with him either, seems to aggravate his condition,I don't know of any specific diet but maybe little changes will make a big difference, good luck with everything x
