Has anyone seen my motivation?

In August 2012 I started my weight loss journey at 18st 12lb and a BMI of 46. After changing my eating habits, enduring 10 boot camp sessions, completing the NHS Healthy Change Physical Activity on Referral Service and subsequently joining the local gym, I have managed to get down to 15 st 3lb and a BMI of 37.

While I am pleased with my results, I am aware I still have a long way to go. My weight loss results have started to hinder me rather than inspire me as the thoughts "I've lost so much weight, I can't put it all back on eating this" and "After being on a diet since August, I deserve this" have started to creep in.

I had an operation a month ago which prohibited exercise for 4 weeks. I have been eating poorly and not exercising and the weight has started to creep up again.

Needless to say, it's been a difficult journey losing weight and I got fed up of telling myself no. I lost ALL motivation for the last couple of months. I've been slack and I am getting back into it. I don't want to waste all my effort and results. Tonight I'm going to the gym for the first time in a couple of months. Wish me luck!

My motivation is the scales every single day, buy something you really like that nearly fits but not quite, you might find your motivation there! Plan in treats so you are not feeling denied its a way of life rather than a diet! Good luck!

Well done for fessing up and recognising you need support which is why we are all here. Really well done on what you you have achieved -don't throw it away. I know it may be dull-but it is steps in the right direction for the rest of your life-health and feeling good about yourself.

I commend you to c25k site -if you are interested-there is a mass of support there if you want to take up the programme. But in particular sherbear1979 posted 22 hours ago (go back three pages)an amazing blog of weight loss and exercise and how she did it. Work out what she has lost and what she has achieved- awe inspiring. You have already achieved and inspired me with your blog today-what else could you do??

Truely I wish you the best of luck

Hi ch4rly2002,

Perhaps your motivation is hidden in the same place as that slimmer, lighter body of yours is?

You know, that one that is so much easier to move about in, to do exercise in, etc., etc.

My guess is if you look in that direction, you might just find your missing motivation.

Good luck with your weight loss efforts.

great blog, the title made me laugh, great sense of humor :).

I really do understand you, after being 4 months on diet, I am just hungry. I talked to my sister last night about being hungry. She said that I have to decide and that maybe feeling good and fit is more important for me than feeling full-fed. I think that she's right. and that will be my source of motivation.

Good luck :)

little meals and often so you dont feel deprived or feel like youre missing out and eat when youre really hungry ie am i starving enough to eat an apple? that always works with my pesky kids lol x

Thanks for the great advice and lovely comments guys. When I joined yesterday I wasn't sure what to expect but now I'm very pleased I joined. I went to the gym yesterday and had a good day food wise. I agree that this is a new lifestyle not a diet and I will be using a your tips. I think this was the push I needed to get back into it. Motivation well and truly found!
