What is an ideal breakfast

What is an ideal breakfast. I usually have yogurt oats sunflower seeds cranberries and prunes but I have yogurt again later and I want to know if I am eating to much yogurt.

I a trying to eat less bread so what would be good for lunch.

I believe nothing beats porridge oats. the variety to make this into an interesting breakfast is numerous; add a tsp of honey and sacatter of walnuts/almonds, or as savoury with salt and pepper and chopped boiled egg for instance. I converted my hysband to it. it really is the best healthfood around, I think. as you seem to like berries or seeds, it is a good addition too. 45 gr of dry oats makes a good size breakfast.

I have porridge too sometimes I sprinkle it with seeds other times I sprinkle cinnamon on top, its also really nice with blueberries.

Hi angel

I make my own museli from oats, coconut, quinoa, pumkin, sunflower, hemp, golden sesame seeds, and have soya milk with it, then you could have your yoghurt later.

If you fancy making your own oaty seed cookies,

100g oats

100g self raising flour, I use spelt flour as I'm wheat intolerant

50g unsweetened coconut

Seeds of your choice I put 50g of each

100g olive margin or soya or butter of your choice

100g runny honey

50g icing sugar or sugar of your choice. Royal icing works well.

Put sugar, butter & honey into a jug and put into microwave on full power for 3mins or melt ingredients on stove until sugar has melted.

Put rest of ingredients into large bowl and mix together,

Add butter mixture and stir well.

Cover baking tray with greaseproof paper,

Using an ice cream scoop to make all cookies same size

The mixture should be soft enough to spread while cooking.

Bake in oven on 180 degrees for 20 minutes or till golden brown

They will still be soft when they come out of oven but harden when cool,

If you want them to be abit crunchier, flip them ova and put back in oven for 10 mins

I then sprinkle vanilla sugar for added flavour,

Once cool keep in air tight container they will be ok for 3 weeks (if they last That long)

They are even ok for diabetics

Hi elaineanne,

I often have either a couple of weetabix type cereal (or porridge) and some toast.

But I do love a "fry up"!

That's a modified one, of course. Scrambled eggs, turkey rashers and/or very trimmed bacon fried with a squirt of OneCal type stuff and perhaps 'slim' baked beans.

But the G.I. value of food isn't a big issue for me, as I'm not diabetic.

And such breakfasts have not hindered my weight loss regime to date.

Porridge for me, made with skimmed milk with Matcha Green Tea Powder mixed in, I'm experimenting with avoiding wheat at the moment!

You have to be aware of the refined sugar content of a lot of commercial breakfast cereal brands, even in things like the humble plain "Rice Krispie"

I usually have 50g muesli and soya milk or skimmed milk and a cup of tea. Sometimes I will have a portion of mixed fuit with a tablespoon of coconut yoghurt on it and a sprinkling of muesli for crunch. :-)

for me it's oat bran for breakfast and sometimes a banana if I feel the need.

really tempted to go with porridge and muesli now but I did notice that some of the muesli have a lot of sugar in them

Instant Oats with a bit of honey, egg and a small bowl of bran. That way you get the protein and the oats keep you going until lunch. For lunch I have a Vi shake. for more info you can see the video on visalus.uk.com. All the best!

My favourite weekend breakfast is a slice of rye bread toasted with bovril and a poached egg or rye toast with peanut butter an banana. weekdays two boiled eggs or a boil of porridge I make mine with water and then stir a bit of full fat milk or greek yoghurt in a the end that way I feel I get the creaminess without the calories.

I tried porridge with honey and lemon stirred through and it is actually really tasty and fillinG. A fruit salad, low gi bread which is a little more expensive but taste really nive toasted with light spread. You could try a grill up instead of a fry up. Ie grill your sausages bacon or switch to the quorn variety with scrambled egg made with a little skimmed milk and some baked beans.

Wholemeal bread is a slow Carb, I have just seen a dietion & done the dreak course for dabetic! I have type 2, not all carbs are bad! you still need them! Hidden you still need be aware of them :) & eat more slow realse ones . To help weight loss & prevent diabties in the furture!
