My "urgent" gynaecology referral is in 6 months time!

I've been referred to Gynaecology as an urgent referral after having two ultrasounds, one external and one internal. The report stated I had a thick womb lining and polyps that my GP was concerned enough about that she referred me. I was told my appointment would be within the required 2 weeks wait!

Had a letter today for an appointment in October! I called my Gp surgery as I was confused and thought a mistake had been made, they also were confused as my notes still said it was urgent. I called the secretaries at the hospital and was told that ALL urgent referrals are being booked in October at the moment and bearing in mind my appointment is the end of October, I think it'll probably be November as the earliest now!

Feel at a loss, hope It's really nothing serious going on because October is a very long wait for an urgent referral.

Get your go to contact other hospitals to see their urgent refer times . For some years now you have the right to have treatment surgery in any hospital as long as you can get there under your own steam. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I am sure there must be a back log resulting in your urgent referral being this late.Since this is now not only a health issue but a Legal one as well, No one in your GP surgery or the hospital will be truthful to you as to how serious your condition is. If things get worst they will apologies and say that they will learn from this incident. Remember they are morally and Ethically satisfying themselves by telling themselves, "What ever we do wrong is the governments fault".

You have 3 choices now.

1. Go along with it based on the information you have expecting nothing more than that from the NHS, and a possibility of further delays down the line.

2. Start contacting hospitals in countries you are comfortable to get treatment in. Not all are expensive. But yes there is a travel cost. You can also find agents who can stream line the process for you and assist in gathering the information you require for a referral to a foreign hospital. You will need your medical records from all the places you have had treatments. That will include you GP and hospital.

3. This one does not always work and there are no time scales. Make some noise. Write to your MP or see her/him. Contact the CCG. Contact the CQC. Contact NHS England. send a complaint to the GP and the hospital. Write to the local press. Majority of people who take on the NHS staff head on get treatment.

As for a referral to a different hospital is concerned as some else has suggested. Go ahead give it a go. You will encounter so many hurdles that it will already be October by then.

I'm sorry if I have upset you more then I have been helpful. If you need any practical help dont hesitate to contact me.

This happened to me last year but its the deception from those who are supposed to have taken Hippocratic oaths that is worrying & why we had the News yesterday re Breast Cancer Screening .This is yet another MEtoo situation where former GP s have said middle aged women of not so much importance re : cancer symptoms often not checking or investigating why not going away.

Just written this to This Morning

TO THIS MORNING

Why was I told no Investigations or Referrals as costing too much at 71 This was to the point I had to self fund a smear where endometriosis was found &I was pretended to be Fast Tracked to find a biopsy was not taken? If this is case why am I not given a Personal Health budget or Continuing Care ? Are we being used to balance the books as been happening every time there are Cuts since Thatcher .If Hippocratic oaths were taken the Doctors would not have allowed this to happen.

I often say if didn't persist wouldn't be here now yet still treated as a nuisance with bare minimum input often not following up !
