I used Centrum Pregnancy Care Multivitamin (with 400mg folic acid) until 11 weeks. Is there anybody like this or would I use only folic acid? Do you think is it safe I mean I used but I am confused now:::

My midwife advised me to change from pure folic acid to pregnacare, as it also includeds vitamin D which apparently a lot of babies are born deficient in.

I was on Pregnacare first for 9 weeks and it has a right mix of vitamins and folic acid. I forgot to carry my tabs on Christmas with in-laws so took another (unpronounceable) dutch brand - that one probably had more iron than pregnacare because by my week 12 I had a real bad constipation.

I also took fish-oil tabs which you get in the pack of Pregnacare +

Preganacare is the best with added iron and omega 3 :) although you can take pregnacare and a seperate fish oil and iron if you need it.

I needed extra iron from 24 weeks as I came up anaemic, so I take 400 mg of irony day, plus I take pregnacare :) I'm now nearly 30 weeks and will continue till baby is born then start taking pregnacare and breast feeding vitamins :)

Ive been taking Sanatogen multi-vitamins since about Wk9 of pregnancy.

My main reason for choosing these was because of my nausea & loss of appetite i felt as isci was lacking in essential vitamins & iron.

I used from the first week of pregnancy until 11 weeks Centrum Pregnancy Care Multivitamin (with 400mg folic acid). I think there is no problem with that ??

I take Pregnacare and my midwife advised to continue throughout the pregnancy as we are generally deficient in Vit D she said because of the lack of sunlight!! Really...who'd have thought this being England! I think she may have also thought I may become iron deficient as I choose not to eat red meat and she said...I might need to think about eating it again, no thanks I'll stick to the Pregnacare! X

thanks for reply. I had some doubts about so I asked. I take this from the first day of pregnancy. It also contains copper, selenium etc.

All prenatal vitamins that are specifically for pregnancy are perfectly safe and should ideally be used pre conception but if you did not plan the pregnancy then advised to take from finding out to support you and your growing child. Ask you midwife if she advises you to continue throughout the pregnancy, they are not a suppliment of course for a heathy diet but we do struggle to get some nutrients or enough nutrients from our foods so these do the job for us. :0

That's one thing you don't want to develop anaemia, I become soo ill with lack of iron, it made me breathless, felt low and no energy at all, now I'm on 400 mg of iron a day and feel great :)

With my first baby I took folic acid and calcium with vitamin d from 3 months before pregnancy. I stopped taking folic acid at 3 months but took the others until baby was born. This time I was planning on doing the same, taking them 2 months before conception. At my midwife's appointment she was really impressed I had started pre pregnancy but told me to move to pregnacare (or similar) when I ran out. I asked if I should change over straight away and she said no, just use up what I've got. I've now been taking pregnacare for approx a week (week 12 of pregnancy).

I took iron and vitamin c first thing in the morning and calcium in the evening as it inhibits your body's absorbsion of iron. I panicked when my haemoglobin went down but then I was told that always happens in pregnancy.
