Have you heard of carpal tunnel syndrome? It's a neurological condition which can occur anytime, but is more likely in pregnancy. Although it may just be swelling putting pressure on the nerves that disappears of it's own accord (I had a bit of pain in this area that went away), it may require interventions.

I have occasions when my fingers & the palm of my hands become so numb that if i try to hold anything my hands hurt.

Its usually during the morning period though & tends to calm as the afternoon comes.

During pregnancy their is more pressure & swelling on certain nurves so i dont worry too much about it but it is very annoying.

xx

Awww thanks

Is it your joints? Ur ligamentsdo relax when pregnant. .. is there any swelling that could make it more painful, pop and see ur g.p and keep a note of pain and if u get it anywhere else x

Yep got it bad! I have to wear wrist splints when I'm sleeping, it's called carpel tunnel syndrome. It comes n in pregnancy and usually goes after u had the baby.

Ask for wrist splints or keep your hands above your head when sleeping for me impossible.

I feel your pain! I too am 25 weeks and I've had tendonitis in both wrists for the last few weeks. With me the pain is in my thumb and right up the inside of my wrists, it is agony and has reduced me to tears on a number of occasions. I can't do anything - even something as simple as hold a cup of tea :( Have seen two GP's who have been unsupportive to say the least! The last GP refused to give me wrist splints, his reason being that he didn't want the tendons to stiffen up any more, but I didn't value his advice much given that he consulted a book throughout the entire appointment! I went out and bought wrist supports which help a bit - they at least give me support to carry out normal day to day tasks! I can't face the thought of this pain lasting the rest of the pregnancy though :( Hope you have more luck with your GP. xx

Hi, go to your GP and asked to be tested. It could be carpel tunnel, but may be other causes too. My friend had same symptoms and was diagnosed with a lack of vit. D. She is right as rain now it's under control.

I have arthritis which often affects my hand joints. Splints may help, but dont use all the time as it will weaken your muscles. Do you use a computer regularly? Getting some advice on posture, and breaks from the computer as well as getting a special

Mouse really helped me active at work.

Good luck, hope it sorts itself out

Sounds like carpel tunnel, I suffered per pregnancy. Buy some metal splints and wear them at night. Works great. I got mine from boots.

Thank you

Well fuming is not the word am feeling right now just been to see gp over wrist being sore and swelling plus fingers going numb and to be told just to get on with it its a pregnancy thing
