Anyone else suffering from anxiety during pregnancy for no apparent reason.

Hi Have noticed I am starting with anxiety i'm Weeks pregnant and already have a little girl of 4. I previously suffered from depression due to a bad experience in past relationship and was on medication. However after a year of counselling and anti depressants I recovered well and haven't had any need or feeling of anxiety for about 3 years. I have just moved house in February and everything at home with family and friends is fine. No reason for anxiety what so ever but for some reason its cropping up more and more regular, this horrible feeling in my tummy which put painful and bad thoughts in my head (as the only thing I can relate anxiety to was is my past). Can anyone relate or give any advice.

I no its defiantly not good for my so it cant be good for my 4 year old or my unborn.

I spoke to my midwife and she suggested seeing a GP but the last thing I want is to be put back on medication.

oh! hon - almost all of us :)

but yup if you feel you are finding hard coping up, meet your GP. He would refer you for a therapy (i dont think they would put you on medication, now that you are pregnant). However, the mid-wife and GP would be keeping a close eye on your behavior throughout the pregnancy.

Being anxious now and then during pregnancy was completely normal for me, sometimes it lasted one or two days in a row, sometimes even a week or longer, most of the time combined with bad dreams at night. There is a lot going on in our bodies right now and we have a lot to worry about... Try to divert your thoughts, do positive things, maybe read something funny to push those dark clouds away. If it lasts longer than a few days in a row, I agree with ritz21 - rather tell your GP and your midwife about it. I also don't think they'd put you on medication straight away - half of the ladies here (me included) would be on antidepressants during pregnancy if they were that quick about it...

For me, it gradually got better the longer I was pregnant because I lost the fear I could lose the baby.

All the best for you! Xx

Hormones that's all I can attribute stress too, I got severe pmt and had to take medication but stopped taking it when I was pregnant even though the dr said I could stay on them, they did really make a difference but I'm struggling thru I get days which remind me of pmt and I get so stressed and annoyed over tiny little things, it's ridiculous but just as long as it aware of it and address it in the best way possible without meds that's all u can do but do understand how u feel, keep talking about it it does help xx

Aw thanks everyone, reassuring to no its not just me and its nothing to worry about.

It does come and go sometime I'm fine and other time Im in a bad place getting myself busy does help. Its worse when am tired on a night so I end up reading a book to take my mind off it before sleep then going to bed. Just wanted to make sure its not just me and it is normal.

So worried encase I get depression back as my midwife did say im more likely to get it back during pregnancy than at any other time now that av already had it in the past. Think it prob doesn't help that am worried about getting it.

Just so strange that it popped up out of no where after 3 years of being fine with no real reason behind it. Your right though I need to try and relate the feeling do something more positive like pregnancy rather than the bad times. Thanks Again.
