Just tested positive today and seeing GP this week! I plan to clean up my grubby little diet and eat healthily and hopefully have a healthy weight in the process. Anyone dropped weight doing this?

Congratulations:)

Not really the right time to be thinking about loosing weight! As you said cut out the crap food, drink, alcohol and caffeine, start taking pregnacare and drink lots of water is a great start:)

Thankyou! You should see what's in my cupboards!!!

Congrats!

yeah i agree with what Skyblueboston has said. Try not to over-do yourself in the next fewcwks too "in regards to work or travel" as now just your body alone is working extra hard now.

Thankyou Abenaa!! Its so exciting and that sounds like good advise about taking it easy! What else should I be doing? Ive been every site abt babies! teehee!!

Yeah i do that now (at 12wks preg). Try not to take in everything from all these different baby websites though. At times i believe they start more worries than prevention at times. But as your body & pregnancy progresses you'll know what to do.

Just go with what your body tells you (All within reason of course)

Haha. xx

I had great intentions to clean up my eating but throughout my eating has been extremely broad! I found that actually I lost weight in the beginning without even trying or needing to. Just my body taking everything to make things happen I think. I've put on 2 stone and not thinking I'm liking to put on any more, quite a normal amount. I started off eating a tonne of apples and have descended in the last month or so into eating stuff I wouldn't normally (chips & chicken, burgers, pasties, bakery sandwiches). Oops! Pregnancy is a time to listen to the body I think. Eat what it is telling you to eat and if you need any advice your midwife will guide you! Certainly not a time to purposefully diet in any way! Congratulations on your news... exciting times ahead! Good luck with every aspect of it! :) x

weight- you are never gonna loose that in pregnancy either - best way is not to bother about it - anyways the baby would add up to your weight eventually from few grams to few kilograms and you would get that big round belly which would make you look fat to few stupid people who cant see that you are pregnant !

Healthy eating - ofcourse that is what you should do in pregnancy - your baby needs a healthy balanced diet to grow. But than babies have these amazing womb-service (like room-service) and they send you on carving mode, but i would say when you carve for a thing have a bite or two of it, dont overeat. Also I think if you are taking a nice healthy diet you may have less carvings.

For my first semester I was following the baby development day by day - normally every week they get something new and most websites do say now your baby's this part is growing and it would take these vitamins and stuffs from your body - so I would eat more of the things which that particular weekly development required. the First trimester went much easier that way. Also I used sea-band to get over with nausea (they help, even if mildly)

Start taking Folic acid (sold normally as Pregnacare and can be bought across the counter) that is really really important.

I lost 1/2 stone in my first trimester - couldn't get enough of any fruit, and cutting out empty alcohol calories all helped. So far I've put on 1/2 stone back on, so at 24+ weeks I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight (although I'm starting to resemble a heffer!)

Gotta wait and see how u feel I was thinking yeah ill still walk the dog for an hour everyday easy, eat healthy. .. Then the nausea kicked in and feeling faint amd crap for the 6 weeks. .. Just East what u got in ur cupboards and go with how u feel u may feel great but if not go with the flow. .. and when u feel better that's when u start eating well. .I can't wait to start eating healthy again, luckily enough I've only put on a few pounds! Don't put much pressure on urself :) and congratulations! !!! X

congrats,I am 18+2 I lost weight in the first 14 weeks, not intentional but I had such bad sickness between 8-14 weeks, trust me when u feel like eating u just eat what u want (within reason) I have been naughty a couple of times but to be honest I have pretty much just eaten what I used to eat, just made sure I add more fruit and drink more as I am guilty of not drinkin enough. Don't worry about the weight as there is so many other important things to worry about, enjoy these 9 months xx

Thankyou all for your reassuring comments and sharing your personal experiences! Its such a wonderful thing and the feeling can be so overwhelming! Its clear in all the comments that listening and tuning into how my body is responding to being pregz is a key part too! So glad I joined a forum to share in others experiences and others in ours! Onwards and ''roundwards'' ladies!! xxx
