When to stop wearing under wired bras...

I know during pregnancy they say you shouldn't wear under wired bras because it can affect milk production or cause blocked ducts but how late can you leave it to switch? I'm currently 19 weeks and my bra size hasn't changed yet (was about 22 weeks before changed in my 1st preg), don't really want to buy a non-underwired bra to find I have to buy another in a couple of weeks (ideally I'll get to go straight I to my mat bras from last time), my under wired bras are still comfortable so is it OK to keep wearing them?

Change when you need to, if our still comfy and the bra is not tight then all is fine. I grew out of mine by eight weeks, now at 26 weeks going to buy one new nursing bras as these are getting tight again!

I never stopped wearing a underwire bra with either of mine as I have quite a small chest anyway and it never really grew much until after the birth & I wore a nursing bra for a week with my first baby then stopped after a week when I decided to stop breast feeding. If you start feeling uncomfortable then stop wearing one.

I'm due today and stopped wearing underwired bras about 10 days ago, as I still found them comfortable. I bought some new underwired bras at about 20 weeks as my cup size had increased. Then when they started to feel tight around my back I bought some bra extenders (I bought them new online from ebay, which cost my about £3 inc delivery) which gave me the extra room without having to pay out for more bras. I'm in nursing bras now, and I'm so glad I stuck with my underwired up until this point as its very strange being in non-wired. Ultimately its up to you and it's better to be comfortable. I was out of mine at about 8 wks, nice comfy support bras from M&S were a good buy, similar to sports bra but more shapely X

Only stop wearing them when you feel uncomfortable in them hun as long as your comfortable then thats all that matters x

I only moved to non underwired when i became uncomfy. I have a small gap between my boobs and tummy normally and with baby struggled quite early on. Don't think there's an exact time go with what's comfy for you. Always been told its a tight fitting bra that slows and stops milk.

I had a look online and found an nhs article about this that suggests that as long as you are comfortable and the wire lies flat against your chest and doesn't nip any breast tissue, then you can wear underwired bras as long as you like. This was a huge relief to me as I have quite a large bust and cannot get the support from non-wired bras! I'm 22weeks and just went out and bought two more underwired bras to (hopefully) see me the rest of the way...well, until I need nursing bras anyway. Hope that helps.
