Tiredness still in second trimester and feeling hopeless

I feel guilty for saying this but I am not enjoying my pregnancy at all, which I know is harsh when so many women would do anything to be in my position and may never get the chance.

I am 17 weeks, this will be my fourth child, I don't work, my two oldest children are at school and youngest at pre-school 3 mornings a week, on the days that the youngest is at pre-school I sleep for 1-2 hours I pick him up at 12 and then when he sleeps in the afternoon I sleep with him, I then get my older two from from school and struggle my way through after school activities, tea and bedtime when I normally fall asleep again, then I will wake up and try and do a few jobs around the house, I hardly speak to my partner he works long hours but is keeping the fridge and cupboards stocked up for me to save me going to the shops and doesn't make me feel at all bad for letting the house go or not making him a meal.

The nausea and sickness stopped at around 14 weeks the odd day I will be sick still but it's passes quick enough but the tiredness is really dragging me down, I knew I would get sickness I have with my other pregnancies but I can't remember ever feeling so completely exhausted almost dangerously tired at times, I feel too tired to drive, my kids are surviving but I feel like a rubbish mum to them the older ones have been so good with their little toddler brother, playing with him for hours at a time at the weekend while I lie on the couch.

Cause I am so tired I can't help feeling negative about how I will cope with another child, even though after I had my youngest I trained hard and ran a marathon 7 months after having him so don't normally have tiredness issues, none of my children have been good sleepers so I have had 9 years of broken sleep which I have also coped with.

I basically feel drugged the whole time, my bloods came back fine so I don't have anaemia.

Diet wise I am doing my best to eat a balanced diet.

Does anyone else suffer with type of tiredness and do you think I am doomed for the rest of the pregnancy to feel so rubbish!

Given this is 'unusual' for you in pregnancy, it might be worth getting your haemoglobin checked to ensure you're not anaemic, your blood sugar checked to ensure you are not diabetic and your thyroid function checked to ensure you are not hypothyroid.

Hope this passes xxx

I do understand how you feel. I am 35+5 with baby number 3 and from.the start i have been tired and no energy. Myself and dad split up early.pregnancy so i am doing it alone, some days i don't know where i get my energy from. I would speak to your midwife or doctor about it, has you might need something, like the previous comment said it is best to get yourself checked out. I have been on iron tablets for 2 weeks but i also have gestation diabetes. My last pregnancy i.worked all.the way through and only stopped at 35 weeks due to it being an active job and his pregnancy i would of had no chance of doing what i did last time but this time i have a 2 yr old who goes to nursery 2 days a week. Hoping to get my section date today at my 36 weeks scan. Good luck and i hope you get something sorted x

I am just the same, pregnant with third child who is dearly wanted, but am utterly exhausted, in pain and miserable. I have 8 weeks left and just want baby here. I was never this bad with my other 2, I never knew being tired can be so debilitating. I'm suffering with spd too which hasn't helped. I think I felt good for 2 weeks thought the whole pregnancy. I'm not anaemic or anything. Hope u feeling better soon. :) x

Same here! 5th child struggling through the days with sickness and generally feeling rough, tired, struggle to get the kids to school just rest inbetween and worry about how I'm going to do dinner! Am taking pregnacare tablets hoping they are helping....getting the shopping delv..just gotta do what u can, when u have a good moment make the most of it, rest when u don't ur body is telling you too! U have 4 kids to look after...without realising it, it's hard so just keep going keep your chin up, things can only get better! Maybe in your 3rd trimester ??
