I had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks but my friend had hers at 8 weeks. I then had my dating scan 2 weeks later.

IV got mine next week when I will be 8 weeks + 3.

Think it depends on how early you tell ur gp so u can get booked in with midwife.

Think I was about 8weeks when I booked in with my now 3 yo!

I will be 6wks 2days. I feel it may be too early? But the gp surgery says she works one day a week

Midwife works one day a week*

I told my GP on week 5 but than I had to call the midwifery myself around week 7 my booking appointment was at 9 week 4 days (I think this would have been delayed indefinitely if left to my GP) will have my scan on 12. 4 weeks !

What you are saying makes total sense. However, I am not sure how to find the contact number of the midwife I should talk to as I am not assigned one yet. Do you have any contact number to ring up to inquire about this?

you should call your local NHS or GP and ask them the number for midwifery. I have the number only for my own region and that would not be the same !

Hi, I was advised by the hospital to call my doctors surgery and ask for the midwives number and go about it that way. Hope this helps. :)

i had my booking appointment at 10weeks but it all depends on your area and how your gp/midwifes work. With my first I had my booking in appointment at 7 weeks but its all changed since then.

i was 14 weeks, when i had my booking scan. all depends on what area you live in. i live in the wirral, and even though i told my doctor the day after i found out, i still had to wait till 14 weeks.

I didn't see my GP, but I rang the Drs surgery and they booked my booking scan for the midwife on her session at the surgery. The appts can be booked any time, but they wil only make them for a date AFTER 8 weeks.

Pretty much a day or 2 after i had a postive test i rung up gp and said i need to register with a midwife. (This is for both my babies) the first time i was about 10 weeks when i had my first appointment and the second time i was about 8 weeks when i had my first appointment. They will know roughly from that first call how far gone you are as they'll ask when you last had your period so they'll sort out booking your appointment. You dont need to worry about it. X

Rebooked for 7wks 2days to put my mind at rest. Though so far ive been on edge about everything but think thats because i bleed out after giving birth to my son nearly 4years ago. So need to stop thinking so much and enjoy being pregnant

I told the GP I was pregnant at 5 weeks but didn't have a booking appointment with the midwife until 12 weeks (they then panicked and rushed me in for the dating scan which showed I was actually 14 weeks). It seems a lot of it depends on how busy they are and whether they are worried about your pregnancy-I got the impression as its my second child they are leaving me to it unless I have concerns! (I'm now 21 weeks and haven't even been given an appointment for my '20 week' scan.) Definitely just try to enjoy being pregnant!

im so confused! i went to my gp on 17th dec to say i was pregnant and she never mentioned anything about a booking appointment. she just said she would contact the hospital and i would get a scan date. is that the same? this is my first pregnancy and ive heard nothing since from gp, midwife or hospital and im 8/9 wks

Im 7 weeks 1 day and found out last week i was pregnant. I went to my GP today and she was very dissmisve and i left feeling very upset.

All she did was take my blood pressure and say she would refer me to the midwife.

Absolutly nothing was mentioned about dates and she didnt even check if i was actually pregnant.. !!!!!

So what happens now then do i just sit and wait?

Every gp and midwife is different. Some do a appt after scan some get it at 10weeks some evwn get it straight away. Yet again its a postcode lottery to the treatment you get x

Thanks kay2010

I gather its a postcode lottery but still cant understand why my gp was so unhelpful!!
