Hi,

Should I start taking folic acid before I see the midwife?? About 5 weeks pregnant

Also, I don't eat a lot of meat - so should I be taking other vitamins as well??

Think I'll need to speak with midwife or doctor but if anyone has any advice that would be great

Thank you xx

Hi congratulations, I read your post. Folic acid is recomended when you are even still trying, so the answer is yes you need to start taking as soon as possible. The best complete pregnancy supplement with all the vitamins safe for mother and baby is pregnacare. All the types contain the recomended amount of Folic acid ( 400 mcg). You dont need to wait to see the midwife as the earlier you start the better. Congratulations and all the best for the new year : )

Definetly take folic acid, do not take other vitamins unless recommended for pregnant women. My midwife told me to stop taking the ones I was already taking and take pregnacare or similar. Tesco own brand just the same! :)

you should get healthy start vitamins once you see the midwife - these are folic, C + D. You need to take them to prevent rickets in the baby. Baby will also get some once they come along. Take them with your main meal so they don't make you sickly. Good luck x
