My baby's poo is a dark green colour, is this normal? She is fully F/F and is nearly 6weeks old. Thanks

Hi,

BabyCentre has a slideshow which shows what's normal and what's not. babycentre.co.uk/photo_gall...

Might help?

Hi Jessjayne,

NCT can't help with medical questions, but I have asked our breastfeeding counsellors and they tell me this is something you need to discuss with your health visitor. Speaking generally, many babies have the occasional dark green stool, and a few babies have mostly dark green stools. Sometimes, the stool colour changes if you have changed your baby's formula feed.

Occasionally, a dark green stool can be an indication the baby has a mild illness. Your health visitor will probably want to ask you about your baby's overall health, growth and well-being, and she will be able to help you decide if this is something you need to seek further medical help with.

If you would like to speak to a breastfeeding counsellor, call our helpline on 0300 330 0700.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

Alice
