hi everyone you are all keeping well. Bit of background I’m 29 weeks pregnant through ICSI. At 12 weeks I was told I’d high bp no previous history. Started labetalol around 18 weeks. At 21 weeks I tested positive for covid and took clexene , started clexene again at 28 weeks. After gtt at 28 weeks I was told I’d tested positive for gestational diabetes and have to use insulin. I have had epilepsy since childhood though currently well controlled.

What I would like to know from anyone that has has similar is - were you induced and at what point or did you have a section and again at what point?

TIA

I was meant to be induced at 39 weeks exactly but the hospital kept pushing it back until I was 39 + 5. Mine was a little odd though, I was told on a visit to triage at 38 weeks pregnant that I had GD.. which had been picked up at 28 weeks pregnant but I had never been informed. I believe with GD they generally get you induced at 39 weeks

I had gestational diabetes but I didn’t have to take insulin because I could control it with my diet. They look at it case by case and it changes massively depending on what area you’re in. I’d ask your midwife what they do in your area

I have high BP and was switched to labetalol when I found out I was pregnant. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and managed it by diet. I was 40 when I was pregnant and because of this, my BP and GD, I was induced at 40+1 (planned). 4 days later I had a caesarean as I wasn’t dilating much and my waters broke 3 days before and they didn’t want to wait any longer. We had already decided that was the best course of action and his birth was calm and beautiful. It wasn’t the birth I had imagined or wanted but it turned out it was right for us and I now have a healthy and happy 5 month old baby boy. 😊

I was induced at 40+6. This went on for over 48 hours then I did an hour of pushing and baby didn’t come. So I was taken to theatre, where they tried the ventouse. That didn’t work so we went to c-section. And fyi I was diagnosed GDM at 39 weeks and was diet controlled

Thank you for all your comments. I’m lucky it’s been diagnosed early as some of you didn’t find out until near the end, my sister was similar. I’ll speak to midwife/doctor.

I had gestational diabetes in both pregnancies, first was diet controlled till near the end when I took metformin, I was induced at 39+6, had an epidural and fairly easy labour. Nearly had to have assistance from the doctor, but with two amazing midwives I was able to push ha at enough to get baby out.

2nd baby had to have insulin and metformin through nearly the whole pregnancy. Had an induction at 38+6 for small growth, just had gas and air with an injection of pethidine at the end. Really lovely midwife and great experience.

It completely depends on how well controlled the diabetes is and what your local trusts policy is. I was on a small dose of metformin but well controlled levels and my induction was booked for 40+3, and it's standard in my area to induce everyone at 40+6 so was only a couple.of days earlier. I went into spontaneous labour at 39+1 and had a standard unassisted vaginal delivery.
