Baby in breach position

My baby is in breech position. And I'm confused and afraid to do ecv. Because during this 8 month pregnancy I already faced many problems and always feel pain.(because yesterday dr. Told me that ecv is a painful procedure. And I don't want to give more pain to my baby.) Now I don't want any more pain. I am double minded about ECV or C section. Please someone give me a good and satisfactory answer so that I can rest.

My baby was breech and I did have an ECV, it was quite uncomfortable and a bit painful, but it was successful.

They should give you a percentage chance of it working before they try, and if you decide not to go ahead you can have a planned c section booked.

Although my baby turned, my labour ended up in an unplanned c section, and looking back, I think I had a feeling like it was always going to end that way, I don’t know why. You are at an increased risk of having an unplanned c section if you have a successful ECV, I can’t remember the figures though sorry.

If I had my chance again I probably wouldn’t do the ECV, and just have the section, but I’ve never been overly passionate about having a natural birth, so it doesn’t bother me.

If you really want a natural birth, talk to the consultant about it and the chances of working, but if you don’t mind the thought of a c section then it might be better to do that.

I had an ECV they asked if I wanted gas and air but I refused and said no.

It was a little uncomfortable but nothing major and I had a successful ECV and my baby stayed head down and had natural birth.

I would definitely go for a ECV again as my first experience was really good.

Only you can decide which way to go. When my baby was breech, my midwife advised me to do my research before going to the ECV clinic.

Many factors contributed to my decision to go for an elective C Section over having an ECV. First of all, I was not convinced it would work, my baby was on the larger side and I have fibroids in my uterus. My biggest reason though was I wanted the safest route for the baby and did not want to end up in labour if it was successful, and then have an unplanned c section or other interventions like forceps.

I think if you are worried about pain, just think about the fact that neither procedure would be pain free. The pain or discomfort will just come at different times. I was also advised during the ECV clinic that if I felt any pain, they will stop.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether you really want a natural birth. If the answer is yes, then ECV is worth a shot. I personally was ambivalent about it.

Did your doctor discuss the option of moxibustion with you? It is now offered by some NHS trusts and is a recognised technique reviewed by medical journals, some papers have found a higher success rate than ECV. My baby was breach but has turned. I also did some exercises like inversions.

My baby was breech, I elected for a planned C Section. There is a 1% chance your waters will break if you do ECV and you’d then be rushed in for a C Section.

Also with ECV as you’ve heard it’s very painful and there is also the chance your baby could turn back.

I decided we didn’t need any stress and decided an elective c section would take that out of it
