Hi,
anyone had a pregnancy with fibroid? How was it, any complications?
Hi, yes I have had a fibroid in both my pregnancies. It was noted and I was told there is a risk around delivery options but it created absolutely no problems for me. It is quite important to note where it is and how large it is as both these factors can make it either completely fine or an issue when it comes to the birth.
Apart from the possibility of having restrictions in delivery options (which as it turned out wasn’t the case for me, I was able to deliver perfectly fine at home with no complications) I had no other symptoms from the fibroid in pregnancy.
A consultant should be able to advise you on your particular case and it may be helpful to have these questions answered in advance so you can make the most informed decisions for your birth options.
I had a large (10cm) fibroid 3 years ago which was removed and luckily since then, nothing came back. At the moment, I’m 30 weeks pregnant. Because of the laparoscopic surgery, I was advised to have a C-section. I guess it depends on how many fibroid do you have, where are they located and how large they are. As you go along with the pregnancy, I’m sure they’ll advise you.
Hiya, I have 13 fibroids and was the reason for my infertility my biggest at the time of falling pregnant was 13cm. The fibroids classified my pregnancy as high risk and as a result I was consultant led and had extra scans from week 26 and I was put on aspirin throughout the whole pregnancy.
I did have quite a lot of stomach pains throughout the pregnancy as a result of the fibroids but thankfully mine never grew and my daughter was born at 35 weeks by emergency c section I think my body gave up towards the end. Delivery wise I was actually going to have a vaginal birth as the fibroids had moved up and wasn’t blocking from me from doing so but I didn’t for other reasons. I was actually on the waiting list to have 3 of the fibroids removed which they thought was the reason for my difficultly in falling pregnant which took years!!!
And during lockdown 2.0 and after being on the waiting list for 4 weeks I fell pregnant naturally with my miracle daughter and didn’t get to have the op or start the fertility treatment they had planned for. My periods are still horrendous and it’s hard work taking care of her when I am on my period but I battle through as I feel so grateful. I need to sort them out as they cause me major issues.
Anytime you have questions feel free to message me and congratulations on your pregnancy.
Hi there, I have fibroids and even before pregnancy had to have the 2 biggest removed by open surgery. I then was able to commence with IVF and fell pregnant after. During my dating scan they counted about 5 to 6 fibroids which were over 3cm there were lots of others but one caused them to worry as it was apparently blocking my cervix so I was referred to a consultant. The biggest was 6cms I think. My pregnancy was classed as high risk for other factors anyway.
By my 20 week scan, my uterus had pushed the fibroids to the side and although they have grown they are not really causing me any issues apart from a larger than normal bump. This means I am having growth scans which I see as a positive as I get to see the baby.
I am 31 weeks and the plan is to have a vaginal delivery at a delivery suite only because of the previous surgery I had before.
The size and location of fibroids is the main factors that are considered so worth speaking to your consultant what your fibroids mean in your situation.
All the best 🙏🏾
