Newborn covid testing

Hi all, my friend had offered covid nasal testing for her newborn straight after being born, got told this is new policy and all babies should be tested. Did anyone come across that? If so, were you told it's voluntary or mandatory?

Never heard of this. Pretty sure all medical things are by consent though. I.e you choose if your baby has vaccines etc.

Thanks, it must have been the hospital then. I wanted to make sure it's not a policy everywhere on UK now

My baby had a covid test at a few days old due to being admitted, she didn’t even realise it was happening, but with all things, if you don’t want it done you can say no, they can’t do anything to your baby without consent x

I had my baby 9w ago this didn’t happen, I was tested a few days before I was induced but not baby after birth.
